Parking Problems
I live in a big neighborhood full of houses. We have sidewalks and such and MANY people park outside on the street next to the sidewalk (normal).
I received a notice that my car has been parked too long and has been labeled 'abandoned' even though it is right infront of my own house! Is it illegal to park for long periods of time infront of your own house?! Pics if needed! |

yes it is. the street is not your property so you do need to move the car every once in a while.

well every city has its own law regarding parking on street. for example
For my home city where I grew up Glendora. You can't park overnight on the street unless you get an approval from the popos. For Riverside, you can park on the street till the end of days. For San Gabriel you can park for up to 72 hours on the street before it gets towed as an abandoned vehicle. ( i got towed once in San Gabriel) so yes, even though its in front of YOUR house, but you don't own the street. It belongs to the city. its retarded so you need to go to the city or police dep and ask for the street parking regulations |

Did you get this notice on your e92? If it's a secondary car that you don't drive often just move it every other day from one side of the driveway to the other. No big deal.

Depends on the particular area.
Do you live in a subdivision? Even if it's common for people to park on the side of the street, it doesn't mean it's legal. You may have just gotten unlucky. |

Normal time for many cities for your car to be parked, and not moved, is 72 hours. As long as it doesn't 'look' abandoned, no one should bother it. BTW, one of your neighbors probably complained. Here in Sunnyvale, CA we have a "Neighborhood Preservation" section that will take abandoned vehicle complaints. |
