Hell Cat ....600 HP! Lets guess the price...
I have always loved the challenger. Now with this new hellcat I am going to be hard pressed to not trade in my M3 for this.
All hinges on the price....I am hoping big time...mid 50s. I am guessing they will pull a Dodge stupid and price it low to mid 60s. It will be a big mistake because there are too many great cars that can be bought over purchased at that price like a used GTR or a new Corvette. If its mid to low 50s I will say goodbye right now...if low to mid 60's forget it... I think the regular SRT Challenger is brand new low 50s so I honestly don't plan on saying goodbye, I am seriously prepared to be disappointed in their pricing. What do you guys think it will be priced at? Awesome car with pathetic rear rubber. Has nearly has much power as the Viper but with wayyy less rubber! Needs at least 315s on the rear! Hell, 295s on my M5 don't even cut it sometimes

The problem is trying to get Ford or Chevy to honor the MSRP. Go try to buy the GT500 in the mid 50s...the Corvette was supposed to be mid 50s also.....neither can be purchased for less than 60k new....
Even if Dodge is smart and prices it mid 50s to be competitive....the dim wit consumer will price it above logic like they did the vette. Last edited by M3-S65; 06-06-2014 at 11:37 AM.. |

The Corvette team realized that their most popular model since 2010 wasn't the base car, but the Grand Sport which was usually a $65K+ car. So they put the option packages together the way people wanted their cars equipped. Relative to its competitors, ie 911/Boxster/F-Type, its priced more than fairly. |

However, I am sure pricing has settled down a bit since it has been on sale for awhile now. Funny thing is buying new and MSRP has always been considered a rip off, now people think its a good deal. In a couple years the resale on the Vette is going to be scary what people lose in money. Especially when everyone starts to look at the new Z06 with 650 HP relative to the base models. Just like the M3 I bought..sticker on my car in 2011 was 75k...bought it last year in 2013 for 54k with only 9k miles....someone lost 21k on that deal. Ouch.... Indeed. The current SRT8 is already pushing 4200 lbs too, so this would need a lot to impress me.

I was lurking on the Dodge Challenger forum and they all think its going to be near 70k.
They all think it will be overpriced and they all think its a mistake for it to be priced that high. One guy mentioned that this is Dodge for you, crappier performance for more money...hell look at the Dodge Viper versus the Z06...the present challenger versus the ZL1 or GT500 history I guess will repeat itself. |

The good thing is that Dodges can be had for way below MSRP if you wait a year. The SuperBee SRT8 which is good for 470/470 had a mid 40s sticker but could be had for about 40 and ultimately high 30s the next year. They couldn't get rid of them despite their "limited" numbers. So if this thing starts at mid 60s, by the next year, you probably can get it for high mid to high 50s I bet.

New SRTs are low (SRT Core) to mid 40k so this should will probably be in the high 50k to mid 60k range.
Challengers are nice but they need to go on a serious diet. |
