Breathing room between the M3 and 335i just got a little less...
Didn't want to post this in the main M3 forum because I do not want this to devolve into a 335i vs. M3 debate. But Dinan just announced their Reflash tune for the 335i and it's a pretty healthy 384hp at the crank. Price is also pretty healthy at $1,999, but Dinan covers the manufacturer's warranty. While I know an extra 84hp doesn't transform a 335i into an M3, it is a pretty enticing option, especially since you don't throw your warranty out the window. More here:

I see your 335i's 384 bhp, and raise you to an M3's 476 bhp. And, I think thats the end of that.

Thats a given... ^^ I'm pretty sure they anticipated the 335 mod potential. If you go any higher and over 400hp internal upgrades would be needed, which = more money and no warranty.

btw i think the dinan thing would be a waste... yes it has warranty but for 2k i would much rather buy a proceed and have cash left over to dump in the suspension... or a jb2 and have tons of cash to dump in other things.
if your worried about warranty carry the tools neccesary to pull out the piggy back in case of an emergency. I mean if youre that scared of warranty issues you shouldnt be modding.

It is purely a software package. I e-mailed the company to verify that they hadn't changed the displacement from 4.0 to 4.2 (error on their website). He assured me it was solely a software modification. Check the forum post to see the e-mail verbatim.

I have to agree with E90ice on this one and if it is indeed possible then I think it must be overstretching the engine. These are the sort of figures being talked about for the RS5 and I doubt it will have the same engine as the current RS4. It does sound a little optimistic.
