I have an Issue with my Android Auto and have been playing around with the iDrive 9 system for a bit and come across one option that I am not sure about.

The car has Wifi and I can see it on my phone as a Wireless option. I imagined it could potentially be used as a Wi-Fi hotspot for the rest of the family when travelling, but also to maybe help with my Android Auto Issue. But when I try to connect it asks for a password, which I can't locate anywhere. Does anyone know where to find it?

I looked in the manual and it provides a chapter around "Activating vehicle Wifi" and how to connect. But it refers to a path Menu Apps / ALL / Wi-Fi connections / Wi-Fi, which my iDrive 9 does not have.

So anyone knows what the Wifi connection is expected to do and how to connect to it?

Thanks,

On the X3 you can enable a hotspot but it a paid for extra data cost so I've never bothered, the kids could just connect to my phone. Maybe it's something like that, genuinely not sure.

It's a paid (monthly) service

Ah - then it must be the same, you are paying BMW to provide a hotspot for the car. As most phones can do that anyway, not sure why I would give BMW extra money so never registered for it and paid anything.

Exactly. I tested it for a month in a previous BMW...slow & expensive. Majority of data pans offer so much data for low cost. My son has 75gig for $45+tax/MTH and it's LTE/5G
