It is 48V system and has a service battery in the rear and its not meant to be a stand alone motor.
helps with stop / start, and icu when in the lower torque power band, to aid economy.
MAPMAN48 wroteI have the same spec. engine/MHEV as yours, and six months in to ownership, I now see 52-53MPG on long journeys, so yes, MPG definitely improves as the engines and transmission loosens-up.Picked my X1 up from Aberdeen and drove 300mls home on brand new "tight" engine including heavy traffic/ stop-start through Forfar, Dundee and round Glasgow and 40mls Country roads, Trip Computer recorded 48.5 mpg which was far better than expected for a petrol engine and will possibly improve as it loosens up. You could possibly see what it is doing on the "power display" where the rev-counter should be but I would keep your eyes on the road if I was you. It does save you £5 a year road fund tax.
Duncs1961 wroteGiven that the 18sd gets as much as 70mpg on a long trip and is averaging 60, I wonder what it would manage with MHEV! Perhaps they’ll add it at some point…🤷🏼I have the same spec. engine/MHEV as yours, and six months in to ownership, I now see 52-53MPG on long journeys, so yes, MPG definitely improves as the engines and transmission loosens-up.
