BWBike wroteMy Modes, not transmission gearing. Personal, Sport, Efficient, Digital Art and Expressive. On my model (once it arrives), the shifter has low, not sport. The only way I can select sport is via the screen. Not sure what the difference is.
tex2670 wroteWell I’ll be! That’s an interesting find for sure… I swear that I messed with all those display options and couldn’t get that combo- now here’s the kicker … I just spent a few minutes trying to sort this out: if your are in the compact view you can toggle power/tach and if you scroll back down to the wider view it still shows the tach for about a second then it reverts right back to the power meterIn iDrive 8, you press the gear <*> button [it may look different on 24-25 models, maybe like a menu] on the steering wheel, then press the click wheel to the right, and then scroll up and down to select the IP format. BUT you can only do this in Personal Mode. In every other drive mode, there's a designated IP design for that mode that can't be changed.
I assume it's the same in ID9, but can't say for sure.
BabyX6 wroteis there a way for the HUD to display engine speed? Seems more logical to have it on the HUD, especially when I'm using the paddles to manually shift up and down.Whattex2670 said.
I've had tach in personal mode since day 2 of owning the car. Once you go tach you don't go back.
DavyNM wroteYou're not wrong. I ordered the HUD from being trained on not taking my eyes off the road for the speed. I haven't seen it yet available for the HUD but I haven't tried either. I'll go play and let you know.is there a way for the HUD to display engine speed? Seems more logical to have it on the HUD, especially when I'm using the paddles to manually shift up and down.
I had an old Japanese sports couple many years ago and the HUD showed the tachometer(as a horizontal meter with 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, markings all the way up to redline) and it was very useful.
DavyNM wroteI made a mistake by not getting HUD, so I don't know. But I'm sure the HUD settings in iDrive are pretty straightforward as to what can and can't be displayed.is there a way for the HUD to display engine speed? DavyNM wroteThe HUD displays the tach as a graphical rectangular bar (bar grows in size) in Sport mode. FlashMonkey929 wroteI wasn't even the one asking for this information, but now that you've shared it - I'm happy that you did! Time to play around with settings to get the tach graphic to display in personal mode. markronnie wroteRight here in this thread:I have a 2024 x1 28i & like all sold in USA it has a ICE engine. The display was set up to show RPM’s as I had set for about the past year for both personal & sports mode.
While at a traffic light in personal mode I was tinkering to view the other layouts of the drivers screen. I now regret I touch the steering wheel settings at all. I’ve now lost ability to have the screen show RPM’s all together. It only shows the “Power %”; a worthless setting for a vehicle with an ICE in my opinion.
I’m on the ID9 update 3/2025.47 since May 25th. I do recall many months ago the power meter temporarily showed when I started the engine but reverted back to RPM the same day after a few errands. Since that time it’s been showing RPM.
I think this is one of BMW’s mind games because I’ve heard the new 2025 X3, with ID9, can’t show RPM’s in any mode.
A hard reboot has not helped the RPM gauge return.
Anyone else experience this?
Any idea how to get RPM back?
