Nothing special to report, but here’s a couple of before and after pics

Cleaned the tires with CarPro ReTyre and dressed them with DarkSide.

These are my newly delivered summer tires and wheels: Continental EvoContact 6Q, and 872M rims.

The winter tires are Pirelli P Zero and they have been absolutely amazing. They’re rated at 72dB, so in the iX1 they are somewhat noticeably louder than my previous tires. Very happy with them!

The summer continentals are rated at 69dB, so I’m excited to try these out in the summer!

where can I find these tire noise decibel numbers? I've never seen them on tires in the US. Is this required in the EU?

Thanks!

I’m not sure about the US, but in the EU each tire has to have the “EU tire label” (sample below)

Here’s an Austrian website where you can search per tire name or dimensions. The site is in German, but you can use the translate function on iPhone, or Google translate to translate the whole site to English. Then when searching for tires, it will give you the dB rating.

That's what I figured. Only in the EU and Britain. Not that I'm surprised. Here in the US, at least in my area, being LOUD is more important. My part of the state does not require emissions testing anymore since a few years ago. Many drivers(including BMW drivers) have removed their catalytic converters and sometimes even the entire muffler. My neighbor from across the street, about 120 feet away, has an Audi S7. When he turns on his engine, my windows and even my monitor sometimes vibrate. I imagine that can't happen in the EU?

good point... I just remembered that I saw them in person on the streets of Zurich.(near Bahnhofstrasse around night) It was several years ago and changed how I viewed the Swiss forever.

when you swap the tires to winter tires, do you have to change the settings in the tire pressure monitoring menu ?

Thanks!

I actually took a picture of that guy running with super loud exhaust in Zurich at night. (indicated by the red arrow) He was just drive in circles and revving his engines.

Yep! Every time you change the tires, you should reset the pressure monitoring system. This also, by default, will change the settings in the TPMS.

The car should automatically detect the size of rims and recommended tire pressure. If it doesn’t, just do a manual reset and select the size of rims and whether they’re summer or winter tires
