Hi guys, don’t you please know how HVAC is actually powered in X1 25e/30e PHEVs?
AFAIK pre-conditioning (ie. pre-cooling/heating) is powered by High-Voltage battery and available if it’s sufficiently charged (and a few other conditions met). However not sure what to expect from cooling/heating performance when HV battery charge level is low, whether the HVAC remains operational as in conventional ICE models or relies solely on HV battery… Thanks! |

My guess (and hope) is that HVAC can also be fed from ICe alternator. If not, then if battery is depleted, hvac wouldn't work unless car is actually moving, as HV battery only gets charged from electric engine acting as generator, which only happens if rear axle spins. The only connection between front (ice) and rear (electric) axles is via road (so car needs to be moving)
