It's kind of my point, in the places where it would be a low risk, they aren't ticketing and much likely going much faster more often, but in the high risk places, this is where you see the most enforcement, of which the point is to keep the speeds down.

I spend a week there every 3 months, being doing that for almost 6 years, what is so bad about it (other than the horrible traffic and never-ending construction)?

My comment was only referring to the amount of police radar and traffic patrol cars I see in the aforementioned towns. It is every day, all day practically. Never affected me, however! |

I've always associated the Austin area with speed traps. But strangely enough, not north Austin. But its been a while since I've driven through there.

People get excited on the new toll road. Speed limit is 85mph, but coming back from COTA, everyone thinks they are an F1 driver.

I set the cruise at 93 in the Bimmer. Usually stick to 85 in my wife's Chevy Cobalt though lol

I don't think it was a Texas resident, supposedly it happened during a Gumball rally a few years ago that was just passing through

It's definitely changed since I lived in the area, then. Not surprised in the least, since Southlake's so affluent and family-focused.

(Here's the URL for those of you who are hyperlink-averse: https://www.thrillist.com/cars/dalla...rives-in-texas ) (BTW: Yours truly wrote the piece above. ) And for those who want to speed legally on a public highway in Texas? Enter this: the Big Bend Open Road Race, held every April on U.S. 285 between Fort Stockton and Alpine.

Not in Texas and I wasn't caught luckily, but did around 165mph in a 5200lbs SUV - not bad, but car was able to pull further. Maybe one day I'll do 180+ mph but will need gps to document above 160mph

I got a 133 on a 55 back in 2014. ST got me. Gave me a ticket and I was back to speeding. Got a lawyer, beat the case. Easy.
On my former ZX-10rs and S1000rr is was 186+ all day. |
