Yeah, it seems like coach bags fit just about any outfit.. I bought her a brown/khaki purse and handbag on her last b-day, she really liked it and it looked good on any clothes.. maybe I should really buy her something purple/pink this time.

oh yeah, anyone think those Louis Vuitton's pink handbags look good?
the ones with fancy flowers on 'em.. I think it might be a little too fancy and stands out too much.. i'll probably go with louis vuitton or coach if I get her a handbag..

If you feel somewhat comfortable that you understand her style...I say just go for it and pick one out...so that it is a complete surprise. If she likes it...great!
If she does not like it....well, just make sure the place you get it at has a good return policy. And do not get upset or defensive if she decides to return it. If you are not sure....you are screwed!

i wish i could get my wife prada. i wish. g 'damn that sh*ts expensive, and for not much, usually not even real leather.
i think coach has a balance of quality, style, and fair prestige value. I usually do not like Louis Vuitton because of the stupid LV logos (I guess some people buy it strictly for the LV logo). I dont' think that any brand that has more than one instance of its abbreviation and/or lettering is very classy. Expensive, perhaps, classy = no. |

If you're going with Coach...go with the classic designs in the classic dark brown or black coach leather . You can't never go with the classic product lines...I don't like the new designs by LV and Coach.
Again, if you keep to the classics, it won't look tired next season. Have you tried ebay?

i don't like luis vuitton much. and the classic coach stuff is boring, everyone has it, so generic. it's like they just want everyone to know they have a coach purse so they get the purse that is most distinctly coach. that's just being a label wh*re. buy it because it's a cute unique bag, not because you want to be like everyone else.

You *think* everybody has Coach and LV but if you inspect more closely, they're all FAKE. Especially here in Californ eye yay. The girls have fake boobs, fake bags, and maybe fake noses. But then again, they're still pretty.
I have to agree that everybody has them, though. I bought my g/f an LV bag that costs 1.2k and she only wears it on special occassions - what a waste! LV is classic - seeing that you're from Oregon I'm assuming not everybody sports fake bags so it may be a good deal if she wants something that not everybody and their grandma is sporting. The classic LV monogram design is the most popular and most renown but then again, peoples' tastes vary. I usually see black purses/bags on older women. Not a popular color among young gals. Regarding eBay - don't ever buy stuff, especially bags/purses/handbags, from there. Most of those items are fake, even if they claim that they're authentic, have receipts, and a phony "certificate of authenticity" whatever the hell that may be (you don't even get one if you buy something at the actual LV store). Gucci, LV, Coach, these are nice brands although Coach would be for the "poorer" folk especially once you've crossed the line into LV territory. I swear, once my woman gets something fancy, her future items only become fancier and fancier. One day I'll be lurking in the Hermes shop in Vegas.

Squawks: Just because your lady doesn't use the purse that often doesn't mean its unappreciated/underutilized. My mom is an avid purse/handbag 'collector' for years (it's her one thing) but she rarely uses the top tier ones, they just sit in her closet or her display shelf, safely covered in their respective covers...but that doesn't mean they're not doing something for her. I really gawk at the ridiculous price tags on some of the stuff she bought, but she likens them to collecting art so... Some of the good stuff are very nicely made, like the Bottegas, Guccis and LVs and gawdknows what else... (name lists starts to look like the menu at your local italian trattoria)
