Looks good for the most part, but not a fan of the cheap door handles on new BMWs lately.

actually i think it looks like a 3 series (G20) on stilts
i dare say it was just rendered using the G20 LCI and not from the real thing Last edited by G30M; 05-31-2022 at 03:16 AM.. |

No iDrive Controller
It looks good (not sure about the M-Sport rear bumper though, will reserve judgement on the non-M-Sport one as those are quite good lately), but note that, same as the 2er Active Tourer and as expected, it does not have an iDrive Controller/Rotary Dial

That's a great looking entry X.
The loss of gearshift stick though and iDrive rotary controller will take a while to get my head around.

Wow.... The first new BMW I actually like the design of in a LONG time... Still not a big fan of the headlight flip, just to make it "look new" but small complaint compared to a lot of recent BMWs

Might just be me, but I really really liked the G20 M-Sport with the beautiful laser-lights. The LCI on the other hand is terrible. Flipping the headlights just to do something and the "mouth" looks like it has so big teath it can't close - and the rear cut-out looks like a constant reminder that you didn't buy a M3 and won't get the full M-exhaust... Really not a fan

Hopefully this and the new ice x1 will finally have blind spots monitoring. It's inexcusable in 2022 the x1 still does not offer it !

Seats look very nice, no shifter and similar cockpit feel as the 2AT |

This is the problem with this segment. All SUVs/CUVs pretty much look the same..

Yes I get that and much prefer full door handles for many reasons (Including the leverage they provide to rescue and first responder crews) but until I get to see and feel the new design, probably much prefer it to dangerous (But good looking) retractable door handles a la Tesla or Range Rover..

If this has a base price <$40k this has potentially solved my problem. Need a good looking, low cost EV with a great interior!

Don't hold your breath. The EV version is probably going to be well over 40k.

I hope they make a version that's reasonably fun to drive and not just an appliance for A to B.
I like the X1 for its size. Don't need it to be "entry", I'm sure as hell not aspiring to eventually own a land yacht. |
