Does dreaming about it count? My car, a 2025 X2 M35i, is currently in production. Eek! While I’m waiting, I am getting ideas for future projects.

Did you use a 3M type tape? If so, was there a 3M brand part # or series #? Thanks for your recommendation Last edited by markronnie; 12-09-2024 at 07:49 AM.. |

Thanks. I’m familiar with 3M’s Very High Bond “VHB” adhesive series of double sided tapes & hook & loop products. I believe I have some stashed away in my work shop.

Although it lasts well once stuck, I’ve found that it loses its tack if stored for more than a few years on the spool. So do check if you’ve had it a while.

Your absolutely correct. There is a “stickyness” life span, so to speak. Also, a heat gun greatly improved adhesive characteristics after it’s placed. Last edited by markronnie; 12-10-2024 at 02:13 PM.. |

Brought the vehicle in to be Ceramic Coated and PPF'd. After seeing how much it costs to replace the front headlights I had PPF applied to them. Also, PPF'd the top of the rear bumper so my dog would not scratch it getiing in and out. Finally, a portion of the black piano interior trim in front of the passenger and under the infomation screen.

Would PPF really stop a headlight ding? The stuff is only an eighth of a mm thick, so I can’t see it offering /that/ much protection. But I could be wrong.

My plates arrived today. Since I do not like holes in my front bumper I instructed the dealer not to mount the front plate. I purchased a universal plate holder from Amazon and secured it to the lower grille with zip ties.

Can’t confirm specifically for BMW, but I’m guessing it’s basically the same. I have had PPF on multiple Subarus going back to 2011, and yes, it has worked for that. Would it stop a direct hit? Possibly not depending on what it was that hit you, but lots of headlight dings are more of a glancing blow type of strike.

No. That starts to get expensive. On my M240ix I did what they call the "track pack" which is full protection from the "A" pillar forward.
