The E60 M5 LCI will forever be my true love... Looked perfect from all angles! I'm a big geek for the newer tech interiors though but if I make enough money that would totally be my weekend car!

You kidding me?!? I used to lust after the E60, and that was in fact what I was going to get in order to trade in my late dad's '05 Dodge Dakota...
When I sold it to CarMax, I originally wanted to cash it out and get a nicely equipped 530i (HUD, premium, nav, sunshade, sports mode mod) I found on cars.com only selling for $11K, but I had no idea my credit was good enough to finance the difference (since it was ruined by a bad business deal in 2007), so I got carried away and got the E90 I now have at the CarMax dealer. I don't see how/why people would hate it; if anything, it was a departure from the phlegmatic norm of the design cues that previous gens had (e.g. E39 vs. E38 are hardly discernible from a distance), and there was finally enough variation in the lineup to tell cars apart... If anything, I wonder why it stopped since the F30 rear end looks almost identical to the F10, and the F10 and F01 again, looks similar from a distance (but I hope that the upcoming G30 would change that). But to sidetrack, how come we were on E model codes for the longest time while F-codes only seemed like it was 5 years before it switched to G? I digress; no need to answer that.

People who hate them must be one of two people
1) People who have never heard one driving around at high RPMs in first or second gear 2) People who have owned them and experienced high cost of repairs I clearly remember seeing some guy driving around a parking lot in first gear with an aftermarket exhaust. That V10 is $$$$ |

The E60/65 have the GRAV front structure. An amazing piece of engineering. From the firewall(made of high strength steel with boron) forward is all aluminium. The entire structure(strut towers and frame) weighs 125 lbs. Rivet bonded which involves stainless steel powder coated rivets and glue. Truly revolutionary. Add in aluminium fenders and hood and you get a car that was quite special.
