Integral Active Steering or DHP
Since many of us will soon face the same dilemma, maybe we should share our thoughts on this topic.
As most of you know by now, it's not possible to combine the Integral Active Steering (4 wheel steering) and DHP (Dynamic Damper Control + Dynamic Drive). So what do you think, which one is more important and which one should be sacrificed in combination with M package. For the moment, I tend to think that DHP is the more important option, but 4 wheel steering seams tempting as well. |

It'd be nice to try them both out on some curvy roads to see the pros and cons for both. But without trying them in person, and going off of prototype reviews, I'm inclined towards DHP.
I'm really liking the Adaptive drive adjusting to my driving style, and taking cues from the navigation screen. Body roll was my major complaint with F10, and steering feel was second. Seems like they fixed both. IAS would be helpful to shorten wheelbase, but I'm afraid that might remove dynamics. And perhaps still keep body roll. |

I suppose we have the option to have the M-sport suspension with IAS, or DDC and IAS. DDC + IAS, like Adaptive Drive will give the new Adaptive Mode, if that feature is something we desire. Quote:

May have to do with the huge power requirements? On the G11 7 Series they fit 3 batteries if you have both systems installed

Yes, it's not going to be easy to decide how to configuration chassis again.
I heard that also adaptive M suspension should be available soon, just to make things even more complicated And later GT model should have even the Air suspension, what kind of combinations are we going to be able to make there? I really can't wait to get my hand on the configurator and play with it. |

So the 7-series has three batteries which is why it can accommodate both systems but the new 5-series has less batteries capable of supporting such systems?

Different for (US) 540i vs 540i xDrive
The US ordering guide shows the "2VH cannot be ordered with ZDH" note for the 540i but not for the 540i xDrive -- interesting.

A major change for the new BMW 5 Series is electric architecture upgraded to a 48V system in order to reduce weight and permit numerous advanced automated driving features. Whether this is for every model or only some isn't explained well. |

Come at the auto show premier. For other things... The 4WS System I referred to earlier was very momentarily mentioned in the first release then removed and IAS details corrected. The Adaptive M Suspension is F90 however, this same option code and option description is used on several other chassis, and for a very few press F10 550i M Sport, installed. For G30, M-Sport Springs with Dynamic Damper Control is the same. Adaptive drive uses the same damper as the 7er but with a coil spring instead. No air on G30 sedan. |

To IAS or not to IAS
Never driven real wheel active steering, no dealers have it, nor they provide opinion on it because even 7 series owners haven't opted for it out here in north. Will appreciate some advices
- Is it extreme cold or ice can cause any electrical failures? - Does it add a maintenance cycle like yearly caliberations or alignments and so on. - Are there major known issues with it - how will it fare with xdrive and IAS..... To get Adaptive mode you need You need 223 (Dynamic Damper Control) OR 2VA (Dynamic Drive, includes SA223) OR 2VF (Adaptive M suspension, standard for M50i, includes SA223) AND SA606/609 (AND automatic transmission of any kind) in order to get the Adaptive Mode. |
