Chicago area service center?
Anyone take their car in for service and have any good or bad experiences to share? I'm coming up on the 1,200 mile break-in and am trying to decide which dealer to go to. I've seen recommendations for Laurel, Elmhurst, and Knauz on other boards, but most of it was anecdotal. I know there's not much to this service itself, so I'm equally interested in anything that factors into the overall experience--quality of service advisors, availability of loaners, waiting area, etc.

Highly recommend Bill Jacobs in Naperville, IL. I purchased and got my break in done there. Nothing but class IMO.
Service advisor (John Sout) was wonderful. And they have 70 loaners in their fleet (Down from 150 earlier this year!). The dealership is gorgeous too. The owner has a 600 mile Drakar Yellow E39 M5 on display right now.

Cool. There are some older threads really shitting on that dealer, but I'm willing to give it a try based on your experience. They do seem to have the most insane showroom, and I'd love to check out that E39.

I got rid of my M3 a few years back, but Patrick BMW had the best reputation for service centers in Chicagoland. I only dealt with routine maintenance. They were professional and followed any additional instructions that I gave them (e.g., don't wash the car).

Cool. Might give them a try in the future. I went to Bill Jacobs per one of the other suggestions in this thread and am happy so far. In and out in an hour. Waiting area and showroom were both nice (Wi-Fi, TV, coffee, drinks, snacks). The service advisor himself told me that he wouldn't put it through their wash because of swirl marks. I have PPF on the whole car so it probably would've been OK but I'd prefer just to hand wash. It's refreshing to deal with people who understand our neuroses.

Good to hear you had a decent experience. I only go to Laurel in Westmont and they have a lot of die hard car dudes in parts and service that listen and do a great job. Very nice waiting room that includes seats that over look the service bays so you can even watch every step of the process if you want to make sure no one even breathes or looks funny at your car!!!
