2013 X5 vs 2021 X5 Design
The design has certainly evolved but the 2013 seems to have much cleaner lines compared to the 2021 model - I also hope BMW re-introduces Sparkling Bronze as it is far better than the Brown they now offer on the X5.

BMW or not, this has always been a debate when a new design is released. Imo, the previous gen still looks nice. One thing that sticks out is the new standard daylight. I personally think the old one looks nicer. Maybe they did this on purpose so people will order the upgraded light. Other than that, imo the current design is nicer, inside out.

Definitely a handsome car the 2013. However, cleaner lines aren't everything! I did notice that BMW always maintains a slightly busy lower front fascia.

I could see the 2014 model year being the nicer of the two, but the 2013 model seems a bit outdated compared to the 2021. The 2021 MSport looks pretty aggressive IMO. But it's one of those things, to each their own.

previous renditions of the X5 never turned my head. I almost veered off the road the first time a G05 M Sport drove past me. It's what made me finally leave Audi after 10 years. my wife gawked at it, too.
I love the G05 body lines. when I saw one in Frozen, I knew what I wanted. of course, we all don't like the same things, and that's ok. |

Here's a more comprehensive and correct design comparison of the X5 model lines over the generations.
Standard > xLine HP > M Sport

Wow. Surprised to see so many E70 owners who altogether skipped F15.
I too think the E70 LCI is a thing of beauty. I love the sharp lines and the general E body style. I have the sport package with running boards, shadowline, and 20s, and it looks boss. Coupled with diesel specific titanium grills. The thing is every E70 LCI, regardless of package looks great, even the ones without flares and 19s. To me it's something about the bumper design and the general side profile makes the car looks very fast standing still. Pic from 7 years ago...

The new G05 has fixed that with silky smooth air suspension. Very impressed with the new car and feels in many ways connected to the old E70 from 2007. My old and new cars pictured here. |

I liked the front end better on my '12 X5, especially the hood and fog lights. I like the rear end better on the '22. I'm mixed about the sides. The interior on the new one is far superior.

I had 2011 X5 and 2013 X5M obviously I love E70 body lines but time goes on and its a little dated by now, 2022 on order and I can't wait

I see that you have the "downgraded" 19s on the 50i The wheels choices on the E70 seemed endless.

Love my 2012 E70 35D (LCI Sport) which I've had for 8 years and 110k flawless miles…just placed an order for a 22 G05 45e MSport to replace the i3S for the new wifey carpool machine as I won't get rid of the E70.

I did that on purpose - took it off roading and was a more comfortable ride. That car had stiff steering and was a tighter setup than the 2022 that we just purchased. Still handled great, and was really quick.
