I get exactly same with my '16 M4. I thought my brakes had failed the first time. It was very wet, had been driving for a while on the motorway (UK) and then had to brake hard. When they started to work the left hand front brake obviously dried quicker than the right and I ended up swerving. I thought I had a puncture. All was ok and I put it down to water. It did the same thing to me two more times as I forgot about it. Ive had over 40 cars and never once had this happen to me. So it must be a design thing with the M4. (and m3?) but I've only got the standard brakes back on now. I did upgrade the fluid, fit braided lines and Pagid RS29 all round and the brakes were unbelievably good. Back to standard now and picking up the new M4 in a couple weeks.

I have the same problem on my OG M2.
Only happened during raining. Initial bite did not happen also car was shaken for 1-2 secs, and let off the brake pedal, Re-applied the brake pedal then it was working back to normal. Wonder if this is normal. I do have steel brake. |

I've owned my F80 for the past 6 years while living in NorCal. I never drove it in the rain. I just relocated to MA and, unfortunately, it's my DD so it's getting driven in all sorts of bad weather.
I have been stunned (and scared) to find that initially spongy feel when the brakes are wet, esp on the highway. I grew up on the east coast and I have owned probably 25 different cars and have never had a car behave like this in the wet. Wife's X3 has no issues (maybe it has the brake drying feature). Just really surprised by this behavior and have never driven a car so negatively impacted by driving in the wet. |

Fast forward to this weekend, where I drove the car on the highway in rain a bit. I was STUNNED at how bad the initial braking was. Super spongy at first, and also felt like unequal brake application to each side of the car at initial bite. Recently, I changed to wider APEX VS-5RS. I doubt this has anything to do with it, but I wonder if a wider, open wheel almost traps more water around the brakes? I was just very surprised with how much the brakes were affected.
