More Subtractions Than Additions

Now that I have a 2025 BMW X1 28i in the garage I have discovered the following:

SUBTRACTIONS:

1) No data charging ports
2) No door sills
3) No mesh map pockets on the back of the front seats
4) No glove box light
5) No physical owners manual

ADDITIONS:

1) Standard heated seats
2) Color matched side view mirrors

If there is anything I missed please add to the list.

To clarify, the omission of the door sills & removal of the glove box light had been in 2023’s but removed as far back as early 2024 production (November 2023)

Yup my 2025 M35 is missing those things. Didn't notice the glove box light until I drove it last night. No USB data ports is bad.

INDEED! - I've commented on couple of the other threads on this but I can't believe this is just being eliminated w/ no explanation and the marketing for MY2025's still clearly states

Connectivity -
USB audio connection and hands-free Bluetooth® wireless technology including Audio Streaming

haven't tried confirming other countries but would assume theirs do too.

A bit of a mixed bag. I am not sure all the changes are a bad thing? The glove box doesn't need a light and the loss of door sill covers isn't really an issue (only see them when you open the door - unless you tread on them, of course) plus the loss of mesh map pockets - who uses them (for maps at least)? I do agree loss of a hard copy of the owners manual would be pain but the big issue would for me would be the loss of usb data ports.

While my 24 has the 2 data ports up front & 2 charging ports in the rear, I agree that removing them from 2025 builds (without advising they plan to do so) is UNACCEPTABLE & INEXCUSABLE for those that did not plan to connect their cell phones to play their music library & were planning to use a thumb drive.

If it’s true that BMW did not include this fact in writing & or the sales person did not point it out BEFORE placing the production order, ONE OR BOTH should give new drivers a big discount or have them installed for free in the new vehicle.

In the small print of my order form it mentioned BMW can change specification without prior notice, check the small print before complaining. Best you could hope for would be some dealer goodwill

Yes, I recall dealer pointing out that fine print. However, at the same time I was told if anything was to deviate from my build list or if BMW corporate were to alter / remove something, I would be notified in advance & a I would be entitled to a reduction credit.

I was one of the first 2024 x1 28i built late last October or very early November 2023

I think Drive Recorder has the option to save videos on a USB drive. How's then possible to have removed data support from the front USB type C ports?

According to BMW's Youtube videos you now export Drive Recorder videos using your mobile phone to the MyBMW app.

Thats a big downgrade - which model do you have?

I have a 2023 model MSport which luckily missed all these downgrades. I’m now getting to the stage that with so many bits of trim being removed along with the, as yet unresolved, IBS issue and countless software glitches I will not be buying another BMW.

I believe this is limited storage, whereas using a usb drive allow3d much longer recordings.

Aren’t recordings always 40s max? (20s before, 20s after).

I thought that onboard Drive Recorder could only hold a maximum of 10 recordings with each recording having a maximum length of one minute (being 30 secs before and after the incident)? Happy to be corrected on this as I cannot check with my car at this time. But if this is right, the maximum export of data can only be about 10 minutes video without deleting existing recordings first on Drive Recorder?

Given the onboard memory capacity of Drive Recorder is unlikely to have been changed, then there should be no difference in what can be exported whether by wifi or by USB.

Perhaps others with more experience of using Drive Recorder can confirm or correct?

You’re right, by default the recording range is set to 20 seconds before and 20 seconds after, with the ability to change this range in the settings of the drive recorder up to 30 seconds and 30 seconds after (iDrive9). I’m not sure about the maximum number of videos possible to record though.

To be honest that is much more useful than having to use a USB stick.

Wth.. I'm also interested on your specific version and trim. I'm on the brink of ordering one, likely iX1 or iX2 with a specific promotional package here in Italy which both have the 40/20/40 seats in leather and at least on the configurator gives me the back arm rest.

This may actually be decisive for me as the younger daughter _really_ wants the arm rest and I'm not getting a 50K€ car without it

Not on the USB, they keep going until you run out of space.
