Panel Gaps on my G20

Hey guys!

I recently got into a fender bender where some guy hit my car (22' 330i x drive) while it was stationary in the parking lot and broke the headlight, damaged bumper, and dented my fender. I just got my car back from a BMW-certified shop called Carstar. I didn't notice it that day, but I'm seeing some uneven panel gaps. I'm wondering how to address this?

Just feeling anxious about my car because I can't figure out if it needs a minor adjustment through BMW, or if the whole panel needs to be realigned? Any suggestions on this-- would be great.

****I would take it either back to the place that fixed it and get their thoughts, or to the dealership and see what they say if the place that fixed it says it is normal.

Assuming nothing is still broken or so, the alignment of the panel(s) should be a fairly easy thing for a good body shop to address. It's easy to mess up and the panels basically align in 3D (up/down, in/out, rotation, etc..) so it takes some experience to do right.

Hope you get it addressed and are happy with the results

I agree with you, one of my friends experienced this same issue after a front bumper replacement on a BMW. Take your 330i back to the body shop and tell them to straighten them out. It shouldn't take too long to fix this.

A “BMW Certified” shop completely butchered a friends’s E38 years ago. What exactly is this certification? Sounds like an expensive sign a body shop buys to hang on their wall as an excuse to charge more.

That’s awful work. Would def demand it be done right.

Did they use genuine parts (fender)?

This is horrific.

Everyone can do well to find out what the best body shop around them is, and keep their card or brochure in your glove box. I happened to luck into finding mine on a prior car, but I tell everyone I know, insist on taking it to Mike's!

This can 100% be adjusted without issue. I wouldn't worry about it, just tell them to compare the right and left sides and call you when it's adjusted properly.
