Sedans aren't doing well YOY. I'm curious to see if they're consistent across other brands. BMW EVs aren't do not either.

The Japanese sedans from Toyota, Nissan and Honda are pretty steady; the Camry is the best selling midsize sedan. The same can't be said for other automakers.

Not really, the Accord is down pretty bad YoY, Honda and Toyota both were down over 15% last month (month of September), Camry USED to be the best selling vehicle after the big3 trucks period. Now it is behind RAV4, CRV, Rogue and Escape. Still the best selling car, but behind these CUVs.

Nissan is really struggling. The whole auto industry is down in North America, Lexus sales are down over 15% for the last 2 months. Contrary to the popular opinion here as how BMW is doomed, they are actually one of the few manufacturers seeing growth this year.

The X1 was suffering from a MASSIVE recall. It effected the car for around 6 months. BMW limited production of the 2019, then quickly moved on to the 2020. That is the only reason the X1 has been slacking.

For the B pillar issue? Not sure if that was 'massive'....my wife's '18 wasn't in the recall list.

Unless there's another recall?

100k cars from 2016-2019. There were stores with 70 cars in ground and not sellable for 4 months. Some 2018 X1s still don't have a fix available! BMW was allowing stores to send back lease returns for the last 3 months. Check your wife's car again. Or DM me your VIN and I will have it checked.

Solid. They fixed it before selling it to you. There is also a rear tail lamp recall on some X1s.

On select 2016-2017 X1s, there is also a recall on the ELR!

No kidding. Passenger sales down 20% with multiple new models? X5 numbers are good but again, just came out less than a year ago. The X7 is a brand new model and I will bet anyone that 12-24 months from now they'll plummet relative to these numbers. Just need about a year for all the "gotta be first" soccer moms to with $100K to spend have them and see who steps up after the newness wears off. Good they finally addressed that crowd but it's a very niche market with plenty of diverse competition.

Trust me, I could write a book on the observations and mentality of the car-line parents.

You are right about one thing. They are not good numbers. They are great numbers.
Odd that you pick September sales for Honda. Here's the last 3 months.

Yes they bombed in September, but that was coming off their best month ever. Month over month is a terrible way to look at how a car company is doing sales wise. You have no idea what was going on a year ago; major recalls, market crash, low supply. Look at everyone here defending BMW models saying oh that one had a recall so no sales were allowed. Year to date is a much better comparison. And I'll give you BMW is ahead there.

Also a brand having almost 8 years of increases, then a one month drop, is a sign the industry is collapsing? The SEDAN industry is collapsing, even BMW is a victim of that. Excluding the X1 and X2 (which I don't consider "passenger cars") BMW sedans are down -20.4% October 2018 vs October 2019. Honda cars only dropped -1.5% for those same 2 months.
