Looks good for the most part, but not a fan of the cheap door handles on new BMWs lately.

They're morphing into Skoda more and more.

No iDrive Controller

It looks good (not sure about the M-Sport rear bumper though, will reserve judgement on the non-M-Sport one as those are quite good lately), but note that, same as the 2er Active Tourer and as expected, it does not have an iDrive Controller/Rotary Dial

That's a great looking entry X.

The loss of gearshift stick though and iDrive rotary controller will take a while to get my head around.

It looks like an x7 had an electric baby. If that was the inspiration then they did a great job. I like it.

Wow.... The first new BMW I actually like the design of in a LONG time... Still not a big fan of the headlight flip, just to make it "look new" but small complaint compared to a lot of recent BMWs

Might just be me, but I really really liked the G20 M-Sport with the beautiful laser-lights. The LCI on the other hand is terrible. Flipping the headlights just to do something and the "mouth" looks like it has so big teath it can't close - and the rear cut-out looks like a constant reminder that you didn't buy a M3 and won't get the full M-exhaust... Really not a fan

Is Hyundai making this for BMW or vice versa for the Tucson?

Hopefully this and the new ice x1 will finally have blind spots monitoring. It's inexcusable in 2022 the x1 still does not offer it !

Having seen the X1 M Sport in closed room, it's very close in design to the G20 LCI. The 'boomerang' thing is a bit larger on the X1. Rear is as depicted in the leaks.
Seats look very nice, no shifter and similar cockpit feel as the 2AT

If the 2018 X1 works fine why trade so soon? In this economy, unless your current vehicle is unreliable or falling apart, I would refrain from buying anything until things begin to steadily begin to improve or normalize again.

Just my unsolicited POV..:

That's happening because they have ex-VW Group designers working now at BMW.

This is the problem with this segment. All SUVs/CUVs pretty much look the same..

You mean their going back to "Nail breaker" door handles?

Yes I get that and much prefer full door handles for many reasons (Including the leverage they provide to rescue and first responder crews) but until I get to see and feel the new design, probably much prefer it to dangerous (But good looking) retractable door handles a la Tesla or Range Rover..

Removing the iDrive controller makes this not iDrive, just another generic Nav system.

If this has a base price <$40k this has potentially solved my problem. Need a good looking, low cost EV with a great interior!

Don't hold your breath. The EV version is probably going to be well over 40k.

I hope they make a version that's reasonably fun to drive and not just an appliance for A to B.

I like the X1 for its size. Don't need it to be "entry", I'm sure as hell not aspiring to eventually own a land yacht.

Jesus, I didn't even notice that before.

These really are the end times.
