You have either 8, or 9
If in the infotainment screen, in the lowest line, and midway right to left, you have a home icon, is id9.
If there it says "clima menu" in writing, is id8

The dealer said that a car has ID8.5, in manual it shows ID8 but it is actually ID9. How come it is so hard to identify OS version?

For some reason BMW hasn’t changed the last part of the code that should read ID8 or ID9. The only true way to know if it’s ID8 or 9 is the menu, if it says climate control in the middle it’s ID 8, three icons it’s ID9.

As yet there is no concept of 8.5 on any U11 X1 from everything that has been said it’s never going to happen.
