The good folks on this board talked me into holding the course when the markets tanked (sort of) in 2018. I'm glad I did. It paid off. I'm hoping it will again. Two things I'd like to see improve in the very short term. 1) Stop f**king hoarding!!! Especially TP. It's soooooo stupid. Stuff will be available if everyone stops hoarding. 2) Some progress on a vaccine. With all the scientific knowledge we have and the extreme need to stop this virus, all stops should be pulled out to come up with a vaccine. I predict the day a working vaccine hits the news, the markets will soar.

Reading around today there is already good reports on some old malaria drugs being effective against this bug. Chloroquine / Hydroxychloroquine + Azithromycin. Quinene .. as in gin and tonic. Since our liquor stores are closed I may venture across the border tomorrow to get some Bombay .. but the problem has always been finding a good tonic water.
There's lots on google but here's one article https://www.forbes.com/sites/marybet...ght-just-work/ Those are so old they can be prescribed off label .. so, maybe we can say "these work fine" pretty quickly, let's get back to normal while they develop a vaccine. |

China for the first time reported no new local cases. Validates the article about the biophysicist that was posted towards the start of this thread.

They have already injected people with trial vaccines. The issue is just the testing, I mean I'm sure they want to do it as quickly as possible but at the same time you have to make sure it works and doesn't kill you. Now if the virus was killing 50% of people or something you could argue fuck testing just do it. As for hoarding, they simply shouldn't allow anyone to buy more than X amount of essential shit and whatever you do buy during this time you can't return. I honestly don't even know if they are doing that around here or not because I've just been ordering everything online. |

That is so good to know. Especially since all the news out of China is completely accurate.

I'm ok with the number of women I have banged. I am upset that I never got to see Garbage live &, hopefully, the Halestorm & Godsmack concert that I have tickets for next month gets rescheduled. On a positive note, I have been practicing social distancing for my entire life. |

Friend of mine went to Walmart early this morning and found TP. So maybe that lunacy will begin to subside. He said there are still major shortages of some things like milk and cheese and some bread.

I honestly believe we are going to come out of this stronger and more united. You guys remember how alot of us felt post 9/11?
A tiny bright spot for those who's jobs might be put on hold. There might be temporary gigs that could help. Now is not the time for pride imo. |

Its nice to see at least some of the political divide has subsided. Politicians are working together aka doing their job. Less energy is spend on shit talking. People just generally care less about small crap. As someone said above we will be stronger as a result of this.
As far as encouraging news specific to the virus? I'd like to second the post above about the drugs from the past being tested and showing results. |

I agree with all of this. I was VERY disappointed at the sensationalist news reporting from CNN last night. It seems their goal is to create fear and uncertainty in the population. Their panel of “experts” telling American citizens that there will be waves of sickness that can be expected over an indeterminate time period. Canadians are watching this drivel and getting stressed out. It seems to be using fear to create some bizarre sick way of gaining political points... Even among my neighbours, they’re gobbling up sensationalist news stories rather than acquiring knowledge from the government web sites. |

I've already seen some of the nutters on FB talking about how it's all a conspiracy so when the vaccine does come out they can inject everyone with this "concoction" that will kill everyone....
I'm always curious why so many of these conspiracies involve the government trying to kill people. I mean you do realize there is no government with no people right? |

Wife went out early and found that the local grocery stores were better stocked and had started implementing limits on quantity of certain items.
So she was able to pick up enough stuff to keep from going into Panic Mode!

IRS moved filing deadline after moving payment deadline (although states with income taxes may not have moved their state deadlines so watch out for those):

FYI.
GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) - Prisma Health announced Wednesday they have developed an innovative ventilator device for COVID-19 patients. An ER physician at Prisma Health named Sarah Farris invented the device, which officials said allows one ventilator to serve up to four patients at one time. Farris worked with her husband, who is a software engineer named Ryan Farris, and a Prisma Health pulmonologist, named Antine Stenbit, to develop the device, called Vesper. The Vesper is a 3D-printed device that Prisma said is made from material already in use for medical devised and produced for minimal cost. Officials said the U.S. Food and Drug Administration has granted emergency use authorization for this ventilators. https://www.foxcarolina.com/news/pri...73df8214a.html
