Our Petro Canada 94 is very close to the Aral Ultimate 102. Do you also have it available in BC?

No we do not. Chev 94 but I have data logged on my Dyno and found better results with shell 91. Maybe nitrogen does more than expected. Would 102 not be more like 97 here? I thought the Petro 94 was just their 91 with octane additive?

As I posted (PetroCanada site linked in that post), PetroCanada 94 has a 101.5 RON rating. In the EU, they only post the RON rating, hence the 102.

The Aral Ultimate 102 and PetroCanada 94 both have the same 88 MON rating.

Nitrogen is an (almost) inert gas that composes 80% of the atmosphere. But it does sound good marketing wise . Shell markets it as a "cleaning" agent and should not have a direct (meaning immediate) effect on performance.

Please let me know when your GTS arrives and log it with Petro 94.

I wish I could get a GTS. I need the 4 seats, otherwise I would have traded my M4 for one

Hopefully we'll have someone in Canada that will be able to dyno a GTS on PC 94, maybe Gearhead999s

Petro Canada no longer sell 94 octane in BC. I personally find Shell 91 to be better than Chevron 94.

This is a chart I had from 3 years ago. Can't remember the author...
Actual octane rating table
EURO RON MON US: (R+M)/2
90 83 86.5
92 85 88.5
95 87 91
96 88 92
98 90 94
100 91.5 95.75
105 95 100
110 99 104.5

Formula for converting EURO to US rating

EURO RON US (R+M)/2
90 85.9
92 87.8
95 90.7
96 91.6
98 93.5
100 95.5
105 100.2
110 105

Formula for converting US to EURO octane
reversing that forumula: RON = US*(22/21)
US (R+M)/2 EURO RON
87 91.1
88 92.2
89 93.2
90 94.3
91 95.3
92 96.4
93 97.4
94 98.5
95 99.5
96 100.6
97 101.6
98 102.7
99 103.7
100 104.8

It shows that it's not all in the octane rating.

100 104.8
Those formulas only provide an approximation. Since different fuels will have different RON and MON values, it is not possible to have a one-size-fits-all conversion formula.

There is nothing like comparing the actual ratings. PC 94 is rated at 101.5RON by Petro Canada while Aral Ultimate 102 is rated at just that (102RON). That is the most accurate comparison that can be done.

It seems to me that your facts are questionable also and somewhat of an approximation.

How are they questionable ? I referenced the Petro Canada site that specifies that their 94 is rated at 101.5 RON

Check for yourself: http://retail.petro-canada.ca/en/ind...or%20my%20car?

The reason I asked if you could elaborate about ethanol is that PetroCanada has Ethanol in their fuel. So if you are suggesting that ethanol hurts performance, going with PC94 might not yield better dyno results...

Maybe starting a fuel thread would be a good idea.

I only replied to your inputs...

Anyhow, it's your thread and I do not wish to derail it.

Listen, all I said was I ran 102 in Europe and it was a much different car there. Many others that have been over there can agree. Whatever the difference is, it is there. Is this clear enough?

I did not feel much difference between the 102 I ran in Germany and the Petro Canada 94 I run in Canada (yes, I also did ED). Maybe its a GTS thing, maybe its a Shell 91 thing. Anyway, peace.
