I was on the 19” 869 before these, and to be completely honest, I really do not notice any significant difference. I am more conscious of driving over potholes a little more carefully, but as a general daily drive, the feel is the same!

One thing to note, particularly for iX1 users: average consumption has gone up from 18.2 kWh/100km to 18.8-19.2 kWh/100km.

Would be interesting to see the difference on a set of lightweight forged wheels. I went up a size to 19”, but forged. I haven’t thought to do any recorded data, but by my estimation I’m averaging 1-2mpg higher on my 28i. But, my driving habits vary depending on where my job takes me so it’s not really apples to apples. I will say lifting the 19” wheels is much easier than lifting the factory 18” M Sport wheels the car came with.

I think the average weight difference is about 20% lighter for forged rims compared to cast alloy, so it would really be very interesting to know the difference in consumption between the two. If the difference is significant, it might be worth investing in a set.

I personally average consumption is around 17.5 kWh /100 km with 20 inch x8.5 forged wheels with 245 40 20 … rims weight around 10 kg each without tires

That’s impressive! At least in terms of weight! The 19 inch 871 weigh 11kg each. Unfortunately, I can’t find any info (yet) on how much the 20 inch 872 weigh without tires.

If we compare consumption of 17.5 to 19.0 kWh/100km (20 forged vs 20 cast alloy), that’s an increase in range of 30km.

For the whole of September I consumed a total of 154 kWh. That equates to:
  • 810km on my 20 inch 872
  • 846km on my 19 inch 871 (actual figure)
  • 880km on your 20 inch forged rims.

70km increased range a month is not too bad! In my case, that’s almost 3 extra days of going to and from work!

for the entire month of September, I only drove my X1 for 38 miles on 15 trips, according to the BMW app. (38 miles = 61 km) I really wish BMW sells the iX1 in the US because a full EV is perfect for how little I drive.

as for the wheels... I had a set of lightweight 18" BBS wheels for my Mercedes before. According to the notes that I kept on my computer, it was 19.1 pounds per wheel.(8.6 kg?). 18” wheels at 12.7kg is quite heavy! Definitely a big difference to your lightweight BBS.

How come only 38 miles in a month?

but in August, I did about 1100 miles on a longer trip to New York City. I have another car, so I don't always drive my newer X1. I took delivery 163 days ago and it currently has around 2600 miles total. That averages out to be around 15 miles per day.

for the tires fitted to the BMW X1, Continental and Pirelli listed the tire weights as:

18-inch tire = 25 pounds

19-inch tire = 28 pounds

20-inch tire = 25 pounds

Add that to the average wheel weight, it's over 50 pounds.(almost 23kg)

For those that wanted an update on the range difference between the 19” 871M rims and the 20” 872M rims here it is:

Having driven on the 20” rims now for over 3 weeks, and +700km (435 miles), the average consumption on the 20” dropped from 18.8-19.2 kWh/100km to 18.3-18.6 kWh/100km.

This amounts to approx. +0.25kWh/100km compared to the 19” rims.

Does that mean other than the NYC trip you have only done 400 local miles (1100 miles one-way to NYC) or was the 1100 miles the round trip distance ( 1500 local miles)?

I promise to drive more... I have gone on too many biz trips in the last couple of months and my X1 just sat in the airport parking garage. I did drive 3 miles today in order to get a large supply of Halloween candies(all gone... did not know there were so many kids in my neighborhood. gave cash to the last couple of kids because the candies were all gone)

Hey everybody, I was finally able to order the 872M from Germany and I’m currently waiting for them to be shipped to my local tire shop.
I really can’t wait to see them on the car.

I’m also very close to ordering the front lip, I wanted to know if during the 2 months that have passed anybody else managed to order and install the front lip on a ICE MSport diesel model.

Still not sure wether I need both parts or not.

Hey! Congrats on the rims!

I think the lower part of the lip is specific to the M35i as that car has a different parts number for the front bumper compared to all other models which share the same parts number. So I think you’re safe to just go for the upper part of the lip

I ended up ordering both parts as the price difference was of only 45€ from my local bmw dealer.
I will let my body shop trusted guy decide what to do and how to do it.

I’m very excited with the two upgrades, parts are coming from Germany, hopefully I will be able to post pictures in a couple of weeks 😎

I put the upper splitter and the low splitter together.^^

To make it as close to the pure work as possible, the lower splitter was installed and the upper splitter was inserted.
