This car is BMW's best chance at taking chunks from Model 3 and Model Y and they are choosing to not bring it over because…?
BMW's recent strategy when it comes to their lineups and design is dumbfounding. It is as if they are doing the opposite thing most wants them to do. Good job.

Same with Audi and Benz bringing wagons here while BMW punks out. I guess we can just be happy that BMW is still bringing manual transmissions while other manufacturers aren't. Seems like if you're picky - owning multiple cars (by multiple manufacturers) is the only way to get everything you want.

I suspect it's due to supply chain constraints and demand. They simply wouldn't be able to make enough of them to satisfy demand across Europe and the USA. Which ultimately would have lead to frustration and worse, damage the brand. This vehicle will do well in Europe so someone has decided it makes more sense to start there.

The first good looking BMW EV and the US doesn't get it.
BMW were going to have an issue with pricing here. With it's somewhat outdated specs, it had to be priced sub $45k. They probably were not going to make much importing them to US at that price point. They can sell everyone they make in EU, more profit. |

Very surprised with this move and I don't understand it. This car actually looks phenomenal by comparison to the new i4/iX/G8X and other big grille phenoms. Interior looks perfect and has a great bang/buck imo and I agree with those that said it would sell like hot cakes. I could definitely convince many friends/family who don't have BMW's to get on board with one of these.
For shame BMW

I was always under the impression that this was never coming to the North American market anyway. Even the articles surrounding the reveal a few days ago mentioned it wasn't coming to NA. I know the next gen X3 electric will be, but the ix1 won't be. |

I am really annoyed by this. As has been stated many times already, BMW finally makes a good looking ev and now we can't have it. So dumb. At least we find out early and don't have our hopes up like with the iX3 where they pulled the rug out from under us. And if by some slim chance BMW is actually listening, we voted with our wallets last time and bought an etron. I really want a bmw, but may have to look elsewhere again. <sigh>

The battery capacity wouldn't be competitive for the US market compared with less premium product like the ID4 for example.

the X3 is a much larger vehicle. I highly doubt you can even fit a baby seat in the back of the new X1 and iX1.
