Does “DRIVE READY” state mean the engine has to be running for about 20-30 minutes (going nowhere) with phones WiFi & Bluetooth connected to x1 in order to transfer what was downloaded to MyBMW app to X1 system?

If that’s what is required, seems like a waist of gasoline ⛽️.
Drive ready state means infotainment on, and all that’s required to start the car is one push of the start button. Think ACC mode on older cars with a physical key and ignition cylinder. You’ll see it in your instrument display as “READY” in green text in the corner (at least that’s where it is on my ID8 X1)

Flashmonkey929, If Honolulu is the region you’re at, you get up really early to help out others on the East coast. THANKS so must.
I’ll try to complete download transfer & update to infotainment ID9 using your input.

It’s letting you know you won’t be able to drive the car while it updates so to plan accordingly

Ok “GOT R DONE”
It took about 5 minutes to download update to iPhone & about 15-20 minutes to transfer the update to X1. From that point less that 15 minutes to transfer update to the X1 once I used the push to start button
(Without my foot on the brake) engaging the ACCESSORY MODE.

I don’t think I’ve lost any personal settings. I did check the personal assistant because I after last update in March it was not able to speak/hear my requests.
The older 3/2024.30 whipped it out & I had to reset it for both drivers.

I’ve not yet come across any glaring changes. AJSTY24 showed a pix of the deactivate & activity Engine START/STOP; but I’ve had that set up as one of my shortcuts for several months. (3/2024.30)

If anyone else comes across notable changes/updates please tell us which Software you had before this one, Year of X1, packages & or options.

The car and the fans go crazy as it updates, why and what it’s doing who knows but it’s not a quiet process for 20mins.

Same here. I've had the option to shortcut the drivetrain section but not the actualy Start/Stop button (as can be done in ID8).

I have not finished the update yet but if this update allows us to directly add the ASS shortcut then it's a huge improvement (bonus points if the vehicle remembers the last setting).

Because of my career, I have a really messed up sleep schedule lol. Sometimes I’m up really early, or I’m up really late (though it’s usually really late)

Just downloaded today. It installed in 5 minute to my 2023 U11
https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/20...36221-9999.pdf

This software update addresses an integrated fuel module issue.
Did not notice any issues to any other settings.

Last update was a couple of weeks ago 11/2023.xx

The attached describes what 3/2024.40 fixes. Seems there was a service bulletin for the IFM in certain vehicles. The affected vehicles are listed in the service bulletin link above

I’d settle for at least allowing a real short cut to it. Not a 2 step short cut

Have you tried this method. Though not a 1 step, the ability to select deactivate even before starting engine has helped me not to stress

I regret allowing the update. It seemed innocuous enough but I've had zero connection problems until the update. On Android auto, now the connection fails and restarts about 3-4 times on a ten minute trip. I wonder if whatever they "fixed" was worth it. No other noticeable changes. My passenger mirror used to auto tilt when I was in parking but it no longer does. Somewhere a setting got changed..

I noticed that this morning as well. Going to do a reset and test it again.

EDIT: no joy. Reboot did not fix the passenger mirror issue when reversing. How do we report these types of issues to BMW? Is contacting the dealer the only option to report bugs? I doubt BMW are monitoring here.

Have you double checked the drivers side mirror setting to make sure the green light is lit up for the proper side so passenger mirror angles down when in reverse? Might have been overlooked. I’ve not seen any issue with mirror since update to 3/2024.40 from 3/2024.30. For that matter I haven’t come across any notable changes.

Yeah, I have this problem as well now since the update. Before, I would get small music drop outs but nothing major. Now, AA entirely drops our regularly (similar interval to you).

I'm not sure what the heck is happening with these software updates but I sure hope this gets fixed quickly...

Same for me on Apple CarPlay: it got much worse. The drops of CP are more pronounced. Also the connect to CP is much slower. It takes a minute or so to find the Spotify music. With the previous version, it was starting playing almost immediately upon turning the car on.

Nice way to push customers to Digital Premium

On the plus side, the system feels a bit more responsive: selecting a drive mode and going back to previous screen seems faster.

Did another reboot and curb monitor is back to normal. However, Android auto is intermittent with or without using Google maps. Tested it using Pandora and Spotify.

Same here. I had only minor issues with AA on 07/2023 and 11/2023. Now on 03/2024.40 it is bordering on unusable.
