Makes the M4 look like 4 series M sport. I wouldn't do it...

Also from South Africa, ordered my M4 in MW but having serious doubts over the colour...still going to make my final decision before the end of July. As far as sunroof goes I would say HELL NO...don't do it. The carbon roof is unique to the M cars over the regular series, and the weight saving is something you shouldn't overlook. As others have said, without the CFR, your car will resemble a regular 4 series.... PS where about are you in South Africa? |

I saw a black M4 with a sunroof. I haven't seen one with a carbon fiber top, but I had a MW M3 with a carbon fiber top. While the M4 looked great in black with the sunroof, I think it would have looked a lot better with the carbon fiber top. With white, I think the carbon fiber top is even more important for the aesthetics, but that is just me. You're paying a lot for a carbon fiber top, whether you get it or not. You might as well get it, plus it looks great.

I don't disagree it looks more like the series car, but the white paint isn't doing it any favors. YMB, AY, or SO would really do wonders to combat the effect.
In other words there are two major components that distinguish the M from the M Sport model with regard to color/texture - the roof and the paint color. If you take both away, you are left with just the fender width and different (but not that different, really) aero to make it pop out as an M3 and those things need more than a glance to fully register. The fact that the 4 Series gets fender vents now (again different, but not that different) only heightens the effect for the coupes (sedans don't suffer there). Edit: I should add that the black wheels are a third one. Those really help the all-black Ms we've seen so far stand out as something special, and would have helped in this case too. Couldn't find a sunroof M4 example with both M-exclusive paint and black wheels, but here's one with just the paint: |

While I opted for the CF roof, it wasn't an easy choice for me and among other things I'm not sure it looks better.
I think that YMB posted looks great with the painted roof. White looks ok as well. |

Hey bud I'm from Johannesburg.
I actually drove my E92 M3 AP with sunroof for three years until I sold it last year in anticipation of the new M4 as far as it goes with mineral white I feel it's looks a bit too dull on the car in my opinion and the reason for my basis on wanting a sunroof is it brings so much light into the cabin and it's just fun in my opinion I used my car everyday and had like 57k on the clock when I got rid of it. With the new M4 my biggest fear is what you just said that it's unique to this model and it's not just a flat carbon roof like the previous one this has a lot of definition to it. P.S where in sa are you from bud ? |

It does look better with a carbon roof, but I love my sunroof and wouldn't get the car any other way....I'm sure there will be a carbon fiber look wrap you can get so you can get the look of the carbon roof while keeping the functionality of a sunroof...

I am in the same boat as you. I love my sunroof so much. I love the CF room but the amount of times I use the sunroof outweighs my preference for the CF look. |

I am definitely sold on a sunroof after seeing this picture and my fiance brought up a good point and told me that by getting a sunroof I'll have a very unique M4 and won't be like the ton of the other M4's out there with carbon fibre roof but this M4 which Is for sale in Beverly Hills with sunroof looks amazing.....can't wait for my M4 to go into build next month
