Need help with color pls! In Los Angeles.
About to order a m3 and can't decide on a color. Right now it's between AY, YMB or SO? I've seen AY but would like to see the other two in person before I commit. Any dealers have either in showrooms or anybody own one who could spare a bit of time to show me? Live in Pasadena but can meet anywhere in the LA area. Sure would appreciate it. Decision is killing me.
Thanks!! |

I saw AY in person at my local dealer yesterday. It looked amazing and much better than in picture.

I think SO is too much for the sedan. I think it looks good on the M4, but the sedan is busier. I really dislike YMB, too smurfy for me.
I got my sedan in MW and I love it. |

The photos emerging from real world owners show the YMB and AY look fantastic on the M3. I hated them both when they were launched but think they are great now. I have liked SO on the M3 since the early spy photos.
So flip a 3-sided coin, they are all great, and probably stand out suitably for LA. Or am I stereo-typing terribly |

Thanks
Thanks for suggestions. Leaning towards YMB. Think I just need to see it in person. Too bad all the dealers have white or black.
The SO looks great on the m6. Not sure on the 3. Any one in la with the ymb please give me a shout. Thanks |

If you want, dealers should also have the metal sample plates.... it's not a complete substitute for seeing the full on real deal, but you are at least able to put it side by side with another color (other blues maybe) in the dealership and get some idea for how it might look.

I loved SO, but the tails blend with the paint too much for my liking

Here is my 2 cents about color choice:
Black if you want something real and classy, it's an aggressive color and mean. It always fits to any car, especially BMW. White is a beautiful, neutral color that shows details of car and doesn't draw too much attention. You will not get bored from it. Sakhir Orange is flashy, fiery color, but it reminds me a brick lol... YMB is a smurf color that is not even blue, i personally don't like and wouldn't recommend it. AY is a very unique and flashy color, but it's not supposed to be for DD unless you're super young with strong balls lol. My idea of choosing a color is based on purpose. You should realize what you want from the car and then choose the color. I mean, if you want to show off your car and be unique, AY, YMB or SO is a way to go. If you just want a classy car, get white or black. From my own experience, i can say that i've switched from AY to AW and i'm not regretting about it, especially after i saw AY in person. Good luck with choosing a color, hope you will get it right.

I was going with another white until I saw YMB. I really like it. I saw SO and was not that excited about it, either as an exterior or interior color. Really is orange. You cannot go wrong with white. I have not seen ay. Black looks good but I had one black car, an e46 M3, and that will be my last. Cannot take the upkeep and auto detailing is my hobby.

AW is a bit played out tbh. Have you seen the ratio of the AW cars to everything else on the ED pics? Still looks amazing IMO, especially with the SO. I know for a fact that the ED group does not represent what the actual percentages of buyers will have, but if all the enthusiast have it this time around, then it just seems too run of the mill for me. I'll still gawk when they drive by or show up to meets, but it's just played out. Like a great song played on the radio one too many times. Good luck! Don't let anyone else choose for you. Do what makes you happiest and tugs at your heart when you see it. I think SS is more of a rare, classy color. I like things loud, so I went with YMB. had to retain a red interior though, considering my last two M's had it.
