Full Leather Worth It?

Is the Full Leather really worth the 2500 option on the M4 for instance? I can't make up my mind...

It all depends on budget. I think its comparable to Granite (or other alternatives) vs some type of nice tile in your kitchen.

If you like it you like it....
If you have never had it before you can't really miss it....
If you can afford it and don't care about the cash do it.....

Some things seems to keep ringing true for what ever it's worth:
Once you have had it you will miss or notice not having it in the future....
After you spend some time in a full leather car the extended versions seem "cheaper"

This is what I have gathered by others posts on here. I am not getting it and don't think I will regret that but time will tell. I don't have any other buds that have it and probably will not be a "showman" going to many meets or shows admiring other peoples full leather wishing I had done it.

See that's my thing... I don't know if I ever had it... I believe my e92 had it, but I don't remember. It's kind of steep though for something that I'm not sure i'll really notice or need.

ahaha.... that's funny. I would bet you didn't have it if you didn't notice. I guess you could be one of those people who don't notice these types of things like my wife (get this) she hit a fire hydrant while parking and didn't notice it .

However for someone to have the taste you do in cars I doubt you wouldn't notice details.

My e92 had the extended red leather on the dashboard... but I don't know if that's what now they call full... By looking at bmw pictures on my build, when I selected full it added the red trim on the dash etc.

I can notice that... however, the leather on the dash of the full vs extended... I honestly don't know if i'll care enough. I don't go around feeling the dash when I drive. That's what I'm getting at.

Is it worth the extra 2550... I honestly don't know. Same thing with the Driver Assistance Plus... I think that thing is worthless. I'd rather get just the cameras.

I went to the local BMW dealer to see the difference... Frankly, to me, I don't think it's wroth the 2500 Price tag. Yes, the leather dash with red stitching would look nice... but not that crazy about it.

I agree, I plan to use that cash for the first set of tires.

To be clear for other readers (I think you're talking about the face of the dash),the stitched leather upper dash was NOT an option on the E92. I have the "full" leather or whatever they call it on the E92. The F8x now has the stitched upper dash ala the E60 M5 and F10 M5 but minus the alacantara headliner.

fwiw, I'm unsure about the full leather dash as the car is parked outside in the sun 9-4 on a lot of days.

After seeing both in person, full is worth it. I am pretty frugal when it comes to dumb shit, but it really does make it look a ton classier.

I didn't order it this time, but solely because I thought the SO looked stupid in the full version.

I got full leather on my M4 and didn't notice any upgrade to the sun visors. In fact, they felt really cheap to me. My E92's sun visors felt like a better material. Hopefully some aftermarket ones could come out, that would be a nice improvement.

In 5 series F10, the plastic dashboard is so well made (great texture, soft material, thick) that the full leather won't make as much difference in perception of quality and luxury. I've driven both standard and full merino F10s and I did not care much. I didn't opt in for full leather in my 535d.

On the F8x though, it's a different story. The standard plastic is quite awful. Rough texture, harder plastic, hollow/thin, cheaply made and color-mismatched glove box. I've seen both and full is the only way to go for me in F8x. I can't stand looking at those cheap materials around the dash and center console.

I have the full leather dash in my X5 and M5. It's a nice touch in a luxury vehicle. I didn't order it on my M4 and I don't think I'm going to miss it all. I think of the M4 as a sports car and tried to keep the non-functional additions to a minimum.

From our survey thread (link here), Full Leather vs Extender Leather is dead even.

I originally ordered full leather then backed out when I added the Executive Package. Saw full leather in black today and while nice it didn't wow me. Might be different in another color but I am getting black. Certainly can live without it.

When I saw the full leather... compared to just extended... it was immediately worth it to me. It really made the interior look richer. Very glad I went full leather. However, that's just my opinion and others (including yours) may differ relative to the cost/value proposition.

I think its an option that you can live without. I got it because this forum has ruined me, but I think when you are behind the wheel, you hardly notice it. The person in the passenger seat benefits most since they won't have to look at the crap textured plastic dash and glove box. So in my case, I think I messed up, because when my wife sees a nice leather dashboard, she will probably start asking how much this car is costing us. Crap.

The choice is up to you and I'm sure it based on a variety of variables but I can say from my point of view I'm very glad I got it, it's awesome and really sets the inside of the car off

Except she'll know i'm full of shit, because the next thing I'll tell her is to take her car with the kids and I'll follow in the M because I don't want them absorbing the new car smell.

If you don't care about the dash top, top of doors, glove box, etc. being covered in leather don't bother.

The tops of the doors and the dash top were the reasons I ordered it. The black plastic wasn't doing it for me.

I had the extended on the E92 and it was nice, the full leather goes even further.
