Need advice - wait until after winter to buy F80?

Dying to get my hands on the F80, only problem is do i wait a little longer and let the winter pass? Considering i won't get it until mid September if i order it now, then i have to deal with the little to know fall we may have here in NY if it's going to be any different then last year. Any advantages to holding off and waiting? All opinions and suggestions are welcome. Thanks.

I wanted the M3 and ordered it but couldn't fathom waiting 4-5 months for it so I went and found one I liked at a dealership. Why not do the same? I have a feeling you're anxious to get one now and there's nothing wrong with immediate gratification.

Good for you man! I have that same temptation day in and out! No idea how I'm holding in the urge, but i have no idea how much longer.

The word snow makes me sick. I moved OUT of Boston 12 years ago to SoCal. Even seeing snow on tv disgust me.

I say you go test drive it, and other cars you're interested in. The one you feel strongest is the one you actually want. If the M3/M4 is your favorite, order now and wait. September is pretty quick, I got on the waiting list on July 7th and I won't get the car until December or January. If my dealer actually places my order this September, I consider myself lucky.

A new M3 will get you through the winter blues. LSD is your friend in the snow.

I suggest early Oktober ED. Fantastic time to be in Europe.

I just rolled the dice in my Prius road trip plan! My car will be in La in mid August, so I'm renting a Prius and I'll head to the great lakes so see it all. Always wanted to go, since my old geography teacher said that Chicago is in the end of lake penis (he also accepted as the right answer Lake Michigan), and since no M for Lups till then, I'll take the only option that will drive me completely insane.

As I said, life is short, better not just lay around and cry about the future. Taking the options as they come is way, way more exciting.

I never would have answered to you, but I'm dying of envy due to your ED.

So why not wait to tour the Great Lakes after Mr. ///Mustard makes a splash in LA? Global warming is not so bad that the Lakes will evaporate before fall.

If you wait until spring, the announcement (or leak) of MY2016 changes will be imminent. Make no mistake about it, there will be tangible changes to the MY2016 F80 M3, though exterior changes will be minor (tail lights, if any).

The way I see it, if you don't buy now, you'll either end up electing to wait even longer for an MY2016 car, or perhaps you'll wait longer to try an get a deal on an outgoing MY2015. Either way, if you are not prepared to wait a whole year from today to get a car, I'd pull the trigger right now.

Spouse has his summer vacation for August. He can run the house while I'm running around everywhere else.

Yeah, I know! He won the wife lottery.

im in the exact same boat as you. Good thing is at least you have an f30 so its not like your current ride sucks.

I'm trying to wait till spring personally. It's a willpower test, but overall big picture not killing me that much. I live virtually thru all the forum postings and if anything it'll make finally getting it that much sweeter. It'd be so so awesome to have it now, but if you can hold off, why not save a few?

My OT for the day -- I grew up in Michigan, so lots of experience with the great lakes area. Dunes and trout streams.
Not to rub salt in the wound, but it's Neuschwanstein, Bellagio, Portofino, & Grossglochner for me.

I would wait. I ordered mine in February, did ED a few weeks ago, and it will be here in Mid August. Problem is, I'll be out of the country for 4 weeks in September, so I'll have about 6 weeks of driving out of about 9 months of paying for the car and watching it depreciate.

There also seems to be a few people with DCT issues, so if you're going that route, they will probably be ironed out by then.

I drove through 2 winters in Colorado Springs, and 3 winters in Omaha, Nebraska in my Infiniti G35 coupe with aftermarket turbos (419 rwhp) with no problems.

Key is have a dedicated set of winter tires, mounted on wheels. You can switch out the wheels in your garage at the first sign of sign. For me, one set was Blizzaks, and one set was Dunlop Winter Sport M3's (oh, the irony!). Both were about the same, and the only time I had any issues was the third winter on the snow tires, when I really should have gotten new snow tires.

Screw waiting, get her now! Like mkoesel says, if you don't get it now, rumors of my2016 will have you waiting it out another full year and on goes the cycle.
