Accessory socket
When the car is off and in sleep mode, am I draining the battery if I have this socket occupied, (for instance)with a plug adapter from my radar detector, if the detector is powered down? Thanks.

power drain when car is locked
I believe it depends on what you have plugged into the 12v lighter port or the USB port. Some devices really turn themselves off, others (iPhone for example) don't. The consumption of phones or multi-media players is not large by car standards.

Are you saying the 12V socket up by the left side cup holder is switched? As in turns off? My Escort radar detector doesn't shutoff, I manually unplug it when I get out of the car.

I believe it stays hot for about 10 minutes after shutting the car off, then goes off.

I'll give it a few minutes, but it stayed on with the door open. I also tried to close the door and lock it. I've been unplugging it lately... but I'll let it sit for a while and see what happens.

I too was concerned about this, since the power turned off immediately on my 335i. But after observing closely, the power indeed shuts off after about 10 minutes, so no need to worry.
