Are you kidding man? You know that is the M235i, right? The M2 pics have only been renders to this point. A few camo shots here and there, but nothing solid. We shall wait and see.

Yes! I know the photos on the article is the 235i M. I should have been more clear, I don't like the 2 series rear end. I doubt the M version could much improve on the way it looks.

I hear you there. I am not sure how much better they can make that look, but at least it will look mean with the flared fenders and quad exhaust. I am sure it will be a stunner just like the F80/F82. Good choice on rides by the way!

+1 even Scott stated that some of these 370-380 HP claims were being too optimistic; at least for the base M2. There would be no room for a Comp. package.

In pics the rear looks bland but I've seen 3 already in CT and it looks good, all around. With wider fenders it will look damn good.

AWD? Because BMW will introduce AWD to their M passenger car lineup starting with the model that is supposed to be the lightest and which has the least trouble with traction and putting power down?

Question:

What's the difference between an M235i w a $500 tune and a factory M LSD and an M2?

I am going to guess a badge, slightly better suspension and wider track. At least the difference between a 335i and an M3 is massive in every way but this car better come at a massive bargain to be worth it.

You really think BMW will release a lesser model with 25hp less than the new M3/M4? This car will make 360hp max.

+1 This. It may be around 370hp but that is as high as I'll go.

Well the S55 dynos and trap speed point to > 450 hp and at the time the M2 arrives we'll have the LCI F8X with comp. pack. I would not be surprised if the M2 make an honest ~400 hp with a 370 hp rating. It need to put sufficient distant to the M235i as well unless it's a truly light weight car with a 4 banger turbo. Remember the E30 M3 was a 4 banger while there were 6 cyl. standard E30s...

This ^.

The M3 is way underrated, makes 450-480 BHP depending on who you believe. So the M2 will be rated for 360-380, and make an honest 400 or so.

My biggest concern is that it will not be lighter than the M235i, because it won't get all the weight saving measures at the lower price point.

Time will tell I guess...
