KW HAS installation and cost
I was quoted 9 hours to install the KW HAS kit. Does this sound right? That'd cost $990 for install and another $149 for alignment.
I wouldn't know the first thing on how to install springs so I have to have a shop do it but does it really take that long to install and cost that much?

That does seem like a long time. Why not call another shop for a second quote. Even if it's a little further away, it might be worth the drive at $110/hr labor rate.

I was quoted $590 and $550-650 by two different authorised KW dealers in Sydney...
These shops normally charge $120 - $160 per hour labor, so that should give you a rough idea on the time requirement. Hope that helps!

That sounds a little steep. We charge $450 install and $125 for alignment.

DIY here. Rear's took about 45 minutes each, front's about an hour. Three to four hours is certainly reasonable.

Let me put it this way, I wouldn't be surprised if someone charged up to 10 hours to do this. Essentially you're doing a full front and rear strut/shock replacement, and book time on that is nearing 10 hours.

Definitely not. A coil over is quicker to install (my CS took around 90 mins) because the whole front shock already has the spring mounted to damper
On spring set up you need to remove the OEM spring from the damper which I would guess takes another 30-60 mins tops I would say you're getting ripped No more than 3 hours at worst |

Install can be done in an hour if rushed and I'd say 2 hours MAX. I swear the rears could be done in 15 minutes if the installer were in a race.
[[[[[ above refers to full coilovers, HAS kit may take a few minutes longer ]]]]] My opinion- Coilovers ---- don't let them charge more than 2-3 hours HAS type setup ---- don't let them charge more than 3-4 hours |

I would never rush a suspension install. Especially on something with adjustable heights.... But yes, its roughly about $400+alignment for the installation. |

Regardless of what "you" can do it in, would you want to work hourly or flat rate? Always expect for a half hour to an hour more charge wherever you go. People do favors and break even but let's be honest people want to make money
