The new NSX
Is anyone else following this car? On paper, there's a lot to like about it. The "poor mans" HyperCar.
I haven't seen any road reviews. If anyone knows anything else about it, let me know. Could I possibly leave the dark side for an Acura?!?!? http://www.motortrend.com/roadtests/...#__federated=1

I have been following this car since the HSC concept. Ive been an NSX fan since 11 years old and still love seeing them on the road today. The original looks at home next to any lambo or ferrari but Honda/Acura did this car a great disservice by not updating it in 14 years. Style and powertrain remained the same for so long that other manufacturers eventually caught up and surpassed it. Ive owned 3 acuras and a few Hondas before my M5 and they do make a great, reliable product but nothing bigger than a V6. If u wanted power, Acura wasnt your division. Fast foward to now.......this car is promising to be a game changer. Theres only 3 other cars offering this kind of tech and we all know what they cost! (holy trinity)
Acura is poised to do what it did back in 1992....wake up other manufacturers. Theyll offer crazy hybrid performance, style and exclusivity at a fraction of the cost with superior reliability. Since i manage a Honda store and my boss also owns an Acura store.....a test drive and review will be on order as soon as this thing lands!

If they don't get it right, they'll completely disappear. They already botched the RL replacement.

Hardly surprising on the delay. The 3 other car manufacturers who have done a hybrid hypercar couldn't say enough about its complexity. With the way things go with Honda's F1 motor, i hope it's not case of race on Sunday, sell on Monday...

I hope it's a good performance oriented car. Begs the question why would someone buy it over a 991? For its expected price, it needs to look better than that inside and out. Way too competitive and crowded in that space. Also, fcuk hybrid crap :/ makes me so sad how "performance" will be defined in 2020..

These are the performances will be defined in 2020.
Cars have Electrical engine ONLY Cars have no sound Cars park by themselves Cars drive by themselves Cars go to racetrack and drivers sit on passenger seat to enjoy the ride while watching a movie on 20" TV on dash Cars FLY And so on ....

I'm over the new NSX... Saw one up at pebble beach this weekend in person and was yawning the whole time. Bland styling and production delays

I haven't seen one yet in person, not even at an Autoshow, however I never liked the NSX and I never got why they are special. I have always thought the original NSX, even back when they were new, are ugly cars. I know that Senna had something to do with the original one, but even back in the day when the original NSX first came out, it wasn't as if it had enough power to give Ferrari a run for it's money, or the handling to outshine an M3, or the sportiness to outdo a 911. Is it just because it's Japanese and perhaps that some people feel like the JD Market doesn't have enough sports cars, therefore whenever there is a new Japanese Sports Cars it automatically becomes uber-special? I can understand a cult following of certain types of cars but I just don't get the NSX, unlike the Supra or GT-R, which I get.

Dave, I am not a huge fan of the original NSX myself. However, from what I gathered, it gave Ferrari a much needed wake up call. The original NSX was both high performing and handled very well while being easy to drive. Better reliability certainly helped their cause. Back in those days, there weren't many choices when it came to Supercars and Ferrari was producing cars with shitty reliability. It prompted Ferrari to up their game. In that sense, it deserve some credit. Fast forward to current times, they have a lot to prove and the market is really crowded. They might potentially be the first hybrid Supercar, but that's only if delivers on the goods unlike their F1 program. The styling leaves much to be desired though. I do like the compact dimension and minimum overhangs. It should be a good daily drive-able Supercar!

I heard that the delay was due to a last minute switch from NA to Turbocharging which will obviously involve some engineering changes.
Can anyone confirm? |
