PSCup2s 255/75 installed
Just had the Pilot Sport Cup 2 mounted onto the car. I had stock zcp PSS sizes on aftermarket wheels (19x9 ET20 and 19x10 ET20, rims run a tad wide), went with the 255/275 setup. Took very spirited drive through the twistys and the grip is astounding, which is amazing for tires this new. Was even a little foggy/moist on the ground but in no way did I feel like there was any grip disadvantages vs the PSS. Not sure if the wider 255/275 really reduces understeer..I feel it reduces some front end precision, but could also be the tire itself. Next time I may go back down to the 245/65 setup for comparison, which is stretched a tad more on my wide running rims vs ZCP (PSSs actually felt great stretched on the aftermarket rims, felt it improved road feel/precision).
These tires IMO are completely streetable. A little harsher on bad roads/bumps but not by much (maybe 20%)..I think over regular roads with no bumps the ride quality is actually same/improved vs PSS and this car feels very planted/stuck to the road with less pogo-stick bounciness. The tires do run 1-2lbs lighter vs PSS and road noise I would say is modestly (15%-20%) louder. In CA due to almost no rain from late spring/early fall, I'm going to run them 5-6 months out of the year and PSSs for the fall/winter. I do think they are best paired with Normal mode in EDC as they feel a tad too grippy for comfort (gives this springy effect) if you are driving briskly through twists and turns. Will be having a set of TCKline D/A coilovers installed soon, think this will make an awesome combo. If you have ZCP and are thinking of suspension swap + tires, would try the tires out first, they are awesome with Normal and Sport EDC modes for very curvy/banked roads. They are expensive $400+ a pop, but the way I figure it will be 6k miles of pure enjoyment on weekend twisty drives and can drive right onto the track without having to worry about swaps/storage and during fall and winter will run PSS. Will post an updated review once I get these puppies on the track. The PSC 2s have a 180 treadwear rating so I think should last 6k miles of street + 3-5 track days. These are OEM on Ferraris and Porsches and get pretty good reviews on respective forums. Edit Update in rain and with coilovers: Tried driving in the hills on a Sunday morning, there was unexpected rain. After only 500 miles on the tires, I am happy to report that the grip was still phenomenal in the wet. While one has to really test the limits on the track in the wet, now I’m thinking of running these year round, as we get about 25 inches a year (much less over past few years), rarely drops to freezing and was more afraid of safety in wet conditions. Haven’t tested hydroplaning performance which I would expect to be inferior to PSS, but as far as grip goes felt just as good and got a better road feel. For CA (non mountains) and other high sun day states such as AZ, TX, while a bit more expensive, these are some nice tires. Also now have the TCKline D/A coil-overs and tires with the coil-overs ride better than softest setting in EDC, and the wheels are never losing contact with the road. Feels like the car is “caressing” every bump. Last edited by FogCityM3; 03-25-2015 at 05:30 PM.. Reason: Update |

I've had the Cup 2 for over 4000 miles on my car (245/35/19 ; 265/35/19). I've got nothing but praise for these tires. In full wet they are completely fine, which was not my experience with the original Cup tires. These are more toward semi-slicks than that of ultra high performance street tires, but for me they feel as quiet on the street as PSS.

Based on my experience with the out going sport cups, they are the best tires I've ever driven on hands down.....................until they heat cycle out, and then it's like driving on grease. Never again! Yokohama AD08s FTW.

Thanks for the review. My E92 doesn't come out that much anymore, usually during nice weather so now you've got me thinking about Cup2's instead of PSS. Will definitely have to do more research before hand though.

Hello op,
I have got 255/275 on front and rear respectively. Much like yourself I have nothing but praise for this rubber. Mine are installed on ZCP wheels too. I'm wondering if you have a recommended tire pressure for daily driving? |

Hi, glad you're enjoying them. I run 37 psi front/35 rear measured after street driving. I may experiment with a little lower as the sidewalls are very stiff.

I've been running 32psi cold all around on my set for about 2 weeks.
They go to about 36psi all around.

I was thinking about trying the Sport Cup 2s in 255/35 and 275/35 but the 275/35s are out of stock on tirerack for at least a month. I noticed that 265/35 and 285/35 are available though. I know they'll be 0.5 and 0.6 taller than stock but is that enough to cause clearance or DSC issues?
Comparison specs: Sport Cup 2s Diameter 26.3f 26.9r RevsPerMile 790f 774r Tread Width 9.2f 10.0r Stock Diameter 25.9f 26.3r RevsPerMile 800f 822r Tread Width 8.7 9.5 I've got a totally stock suspension with ZCP rims (no spacers.) I currently have the Pzeros which have been fairly unimpressive. Other options would be RE-71Rs (previously had RE-11s on my S2000 which were quite good) in the same potential sizes. Thanks for the input. |

Thanks Ben, that's what I needed to know. I guess I'll go with RE-71Rs in 255/275 or wait for the PSC2s to become available. Any word on when the next extreme performance comparison test will be out? The Tirerack's preview review or the RE-71Rs mentioned some time this summer?

Excellent.. These will be my next set. I love the fact that they are so light. Now I just have to get out to track to wear out my current Re11's I'm getting bored with them. They are good though.

Will 255/275 fit a comp pack car on comp pack wheels? These seem to run a bit larger than other tires for the indicated size.

You should have zero issues...I have aftermarket rims, competition size 19x9 and 19x10 but more aggressive offset (ET20 all around) and they work fine.
