Does BMWhat report detonation events?
I have been reading the bearing thread and detonation has come up as a topic. If this is a possibly reason why bearings are failing, and not just oil starvation, we should be able to monitor detonation events or timing intervention events through our ECU and things like the BV tool or the BMWhat Ap should allow us to do so. Am I correct with this assumption? Has anyone been doing this already and where in the BMWhat Ap am I supposed to be looking? I am pretty sure these are not fault codes but other events that are logged. Please help if you are monitoring this already. I have a tuned ECU so knowing if my ECU is pulling back timing often is really important to me to know.
I had to shell out for a BMW rebuilt engine by the way. I am using Mobil 1 but have yet to go to the track with this oil. I do have a larger oil cooler, but how much will that really help? |

I don't think it does - but since you're in LA we can check if you are interested.
