M Steering Wheel

I recently purchased a 2015 X5 with Msport. I noticed that the top section of the steering wheel is not as thick as other part of steering wheel (thumb rest is exception). My M4 wheel has consistent thickness around, and a loaner 328 with Msport I got today has almost the same thickness as well.

Is this only for X5?

Must be the production date thing. My 2014 X5 feels the same as the M Sport on F30/F32, M Sport F10/F13, F80/F82 M3/M4.

I just saw this thread and checked out my steering wheel and to me it appears that the 7 o'clock and 5 o'clock location of the steering wheel is slightly thicker than the 12 o'clock location of the steering wheel...

The rear rib cuts is what makes it "Feel" smaller at 12, front thickness all around is the same

I didn't get technical and measure the diameter of the top part of the steering wheel on my Msport but I would agree with you that it feels thinner than other areas of the wheel.

Maybe a change based on a heated steering wheel?
