June Production for 2016 M3 - typo?

I just put in an order for a 2016 M3 around 2 hours ago. I received the production number and called the hotline to check on an estimate production week. The automated system didn't have anything on it, but when I talked to an actual representative, he said my order was scheduled for daily production today at 9 PM.

He confirmed my name, my CA's name, my M3's specs, everything, and confirmed that it was starting production today. How is that possible? I thought 2016s weren't supposed to start being built until July.

My understanding was 2015 production ends on July 15th. Maybe you got yourself a MY 2015 which, depending on your outlook, could be good or bad.

Yeah I'd be worried about it being a 2015.....I'd call again to verify it's not if it was me.

16s don't start till July. Double check with your sales rep just to be safe. Also the 1800 number is hit and miss sometimes with dates so could just be a miss read on their end. Either way check in and double check with your sales rep

Since it's June and thinking it's being assembled and. By the time it ships and you recieve it should be July -august...sounds about right time frame for a '16 to be rolling off an assemble line.

They are not building the 2016 models yet.

Huh, that's what I was thinking too. The BMW support guy on the phone was sure that it was a 2016 M3, in production today though.

I emailed my CR after I heard the news and he said that I have a build for week 27, which is much closer to what I expected. I'll probably contact the phone number tomorrow to see if their system got updated. So weird...

1-800-831-1117 is a great source of info however your rep will always have more accurate and updated info the. They will so def always go with what your sales rep says over the 800 number reps

Week 27 sounds more accurate, a number of forum members who just received their allocations this week are also week 27. Sounds like the guy on the phone was confused or looking at the wrong thing?

It could be right. I also have week 27 build and that starts June 29th to July 5th.

Is this for a 2016? I have a 2015 on order and it has that same production week scheduled...

My 2016 M4 is scheduled for week 27. I think a few others who have 2016 allocations are also week 27. I'd assume thats the week they are switching from 15 to 16 but still interesting they are producing both MYs in the same week.

Remember the M4 really has not changes so they can stamp it whatever year they want... if its an M3 thats cause for alarm. You can add the prodcution info to your "my BMW" and will give you the year even if the specs are not updated yet.

Where do you add it? In the add vehicle section? Just want to make sure I am doing this right.

Add vehicle and if it is on order, put day you ordered and zero miles. You need the production number.

I've tried this and it doesn't work for me. I got my production number over a week ago (US delivery).

Yeah, mine does too. I don't want to have to keep calling the 800 number.

Yeah i've unfortunately called 5 times and the responses varied each time:

2 - my production date of the 29th week is when the car will begin production
3 - my production date of the 29th week is when the car will be finished

My CA tells me my car will start production in 2 weeks

I'm uber confused at this point
