Front license plate on Euro delivery?
Is there anything special that needs to be done in order to NOT have a front license plate bracket installed on an Euro-delivered car? Do they normally drill the front bumper in order to put the temporary German plates?

No worries, front Euro plate is attached with double-sided tape.
When it comes time to drop the car off though, bring the US front plate bracket/mount (mine was in the trunk) back with you on the plane ride home. That way the dealer won't be able to bolt it onto the bumper when your car is redelivered stateside. PS: Don't forget to take out the first aid kit and triangle before you drop off at LOGINOUT. Otherwise VDC will chuck it.

Good call afadeev .
Almost forgot, grab your cargo net as well. That might get tossed by VDC as well.

I did remove the first aid pouch and the warning triangle before I had dropped off the car (the two reported victims of VDC customs process). The kit is back in the car, but the triangle is homeless. One of these days I will order the euro bracket that bolts under the trunk lid, and put it back in. The dealer also saved the rear Euro license plate upon delivery, and refrained from installing the front license plate bracket (per my instructions). The front plate bracket and screws were left in the trunk, and have now joined the Euro plates and the warning triangle on a shelf in the garage. a

Ditto here, took the kit but had to leave the scissors behind.
My ED tags made it all the way to redelivery at PC... well hell they are still on the front.

When I did ED on my parents car, I took the triangle and first aid kit home with me and the mounting bracket was not removed. In addition, I took the front plate holder but they still drilled holes before I picked up the car at the dealer.
This time I will leave a note and tell my dealer not to do such a thing. In addition I will print a letter out stating this and place it everywhere in the car when I drop off. |

Regarding the front plate holder, fortunately being from PA I shouldn't have to deal with that, but I did let my CA know about this as well. "No drilling in the front". His response was classic (if a bit overstated): "I'd never do that. Drilling holes in your car would be like me drilling a hole in your baby."

I pick up my ED car in 2-3 days, still at VPC (Newark NJ). DO you think they have drilled yet for the front plate? I'm about to call my CA and say NO DRILLING!!!! Also, I'm in NYC alot and they ticket no front license plates like it's their job... any suggestions for decent tow hook (on the side) plate holders as well as any centered plate holders without drilling. Oh and I too brought the triangle and first aid kit back with me... hope the bracket survived.

Don't get your hopes up regarding the bracket.....your car comes through the same VPC as mine did, and mine did not make it sadly.

Had to drill through the plastic cover on the underside of the car to mount it though. Held up in 100+mph.
