What are the rivals to the F80 and F82?

The only competition I know of is the Merc C63 2dr and 4dr and the AUDI RS5. Any others?

NOT the RS5!!

I have test driven it and it isn't anywhere near M3 performance levels.

It's also very outdated with an old platform.

I'm like 99.99% sure that there is a forum on teh interwebz that swears up and down that the Hyundai Genesis is everything the M3/M4 should have been.

To be honest those cars listed above TRY to be competition but ultimately fail as far as I'm concerned.

From reading from the VS thread it's all cars on the road and by far all of them are superior and M3/4 suck huge balls.

How about the Mustang? Just throwing it out there. Probably not in the luxury sport coupe/sedan but the GT350 will be priced up there.

The new CTS-V is the M5 competitor.

Like what has been said, kinda isn't really a lot of options if keeping with the same formula.

Chevy SS
Caddy ATS-V
Audi RS5 (it may not have hit the mark but it was meant to challenge the M)
Merc C63
The new Alfa could have a chance.
RCF
ISF to a certain degree
Can you compare the base 991 911?

That's probably it really.

In fairness to the RS 5 it's an E92 M3 competitor that's stayed in production too long. In 2010 it was a strong competitor. In 2015 it's laughably behind anything but maybe the RC F. Still the only competitor with AWD, though, which is a plus for some people.

Well by the numbers the RS5 should have been able to keep up with the F8x, but being a high strung NA motor it's left behind. Well not to mention the inferior engine placement and the quattro, meh.

the RS5 has plenty of power. the problem is that it weighs 4000 pounds.

When the RS5 came out, the E92 M3 was out. it competed with the E92 M3 that had the same type of engine.

dont worry, the next one will have a turbo.

And there lies the problem with all Audi's.

And yet with the same power as the E92, it was still inferior.

I hope there is. The 4.2 was pretty cool in 2002, but now, meh, gas guzzling and high strung. Pretty much the same reason I wouldn't go for an S65.

If you add the Chevy SS, i'm gonna add the Mustang 350. In my opinion the only competitions are:

Merc AMG C63
Base 911
Mustang 350

These are the ones i'm gonna test drive when my lease is up... by then I'm hoping the M4 will have a respectable competition package that'll make me get a new M4... and the competition package better have a power bump number in it!
