Bavaria Experience Driving

Two days ago my dealership invited 22 of their customers, 11 in the morning and 11 after lunch, to testdrive some of BMWs more expensive cars for 4 hours on a short track close to Stockholm.

The Cars:
I8
X6M
X5M
M5
740D X-drive
640D X-drive GC
535D X-drive GT

I8. wow. To drive the I8 on a track, I don't think that many people in Sweden has done that. The car was really fast, the sound was amazing. I want one but I don't think I'm ever is going to buy one. It is way to expansive in Sweden and Well, I need a bigger car

X5M. My favorite without a doubt. It felt much quicker than the M5 on this short track and the sound is much better than the M5. How a big SUV (or SAV) can take corners the way X5M did is amazing and it felt faster than the M5. I might trade my X5 M50D for a X5M, just to bad it can't have the third row.

X6M was almost as good. The main difference to me was that it was a little more quiet. I think its because the X5M is more open inside so you can here the sound from the exhaust from the trunk better.

M5. The exhaust didn't sound good enough and it felt a little slower than the X5M and the X6M. Still a great car though.

740D. Not the typical track car. I think it did ok though. It was really quiet even when I was pushing the car hard and I actually cornered ok.

640D GC. Well, I was expecting more. I didn't think the car corned well, lots of body roll. But it is a beauty.

535D GT. Crap compared to the other cars. Lots of body roll. Not much speed. The car understeered a lot. Almost scary to drive.

At the end of the day they wanted to test us in slalom with Mini Cooper work cars. We were not allowed to testdrive the car at all before we entered the slalom course so we had no idea how the cars would handle. They were great fun and I felt I could easily balance the car through the course. I actually did set the fastest time so I won a BMW Sport bag.

I had lots of fun and I want to thank my BMW dealer, Bavaria, for this opportunity to track som great an expensive cars that you don't normally see on a track. Most of them did great but there were 2 disappointments.
