Side and Top View Camera Owners... Do you use it?

Trying to decide if its worth adding the cameras. To those who actually have it is this a feature you actually use or is it a novelty that gets used less and less over time. For reference I live in LA which means the car will be parallel parked occasionally and is bound to find itself in tight garages.

I use it pretty much every day. One of the best options imo. Saves scratching those alloys...

It is useful when for example entering an underground parking garage and you don't want to hit any borders with your wheels.

This is a must have option. Ever since bmw came out with this option I always order it. Most just get backup camera but this gives you a birds eye view. Great for tight parking spaces

The birds eye view is amazing for parallel parking.

Best option in the car if you ask me. The PDC is easily fooled with curbs especially when there is a parking block in front of them.

Parking garages and other tight areas with curbing are easily hit this makes it all my error if I hit one. Highly recommend getting it.

The one option that I absolutely wish my car had. I had it on my X5 and used it all the time.

But really.... despite the fact you all just cost me money I appreciate the feedback.

On another note I re opened my invoice pricing guide for this and realized I can add all the sun shades for $320 because I have full leather... any of you want to cost me $320 more and tell me the shades are worth it?

It's amazing. I never touch my backup cam at this point and I always park like a boss. Plus, telling confused riders "each BMW comes with it's own satellite that follows you around" never gets old.

I ordered the shades because I park in the sun at work to avoid tree sap and bird droppings. Picking up in two days! People say they rattle, but so will the doors and windows in later years. I figure the shades can be ripped out later if it really bugs me, but wiring in the switch later would be annoying if I decided I wanted the feature. Not to mention you introduce more rattles when you start pulling out trim!

I love the sun shades. Keeps a lot of heat of the backseat area. Plus I have kids so it really helps them in their car seats. I basically keep the shades up all the time. At night I might lower the rear one.

Also the top/side view cameras are pretty awesome too. Top, more than side view.

Yes. Go for The shades, at night it's nice to raise the back and have less of those annoying BMW lights
Just shell out some more cash and go for it.

I have the rear sunshade and the side and top view cameras on my M4 added the sideview cameras after I ordered the car, before it went to production. I use rear sunshade all the time during daylight hours. It helps keep the car cooler (It's about 100 F right now in Sacramento.) and cuts down exposure to the back seat. I haven't used the side view view very much, but I use the top view nearly every time I park the car; this is just about the greatest thing since sliced bread.

The only thing the top view misses is a front view camera ffs then it would be perfect

SO/SO/CF/CF/6MT for me. Definitely go full leather if you can swing or stretch to it. After seeing both in person the extended dash instrument panel surround just sticks out like a sore thumb to me.

If you've gone for executive package already, not getting full leather, cameras, and shades is like missing the frosting on the cake if you think you will enjoy having them at all. Pay the cash up front for them if you don't want to increase payments. This is stuff that you will see and touch frequently, unlike external items like LEDs or wheels that you will only see for short periods on your drives. Wheels can even be swapped next year if you want!

I've been debating the rear shades myself, but I think that if you've got kids it's more than worth it.

As far as the top camera, I use it every day, if only to shame my baby daddy for what a horrible job he's done parking when he gets to drive.

The sun shades and adaptive suspension are by far (I think) the most bang for your buck options. Full leather I regret not getting.

Yeah full leather was never up for debate... I wouldn't buy the car without it. It was just whether it would be full SO or full golden brown. The update there is that requesting the individual full leather would delay the car beyond my ED date so I'm sticking with full SO. I added the cameras today and I'll probably add the shades tomorrow. Exec pack already gets you the side shades right?
