Was finally side by side with one on the QEW the other day. Sounded nice (he was "playing" with an older RS4 for a bit) but the looks...man it was ugly lol.

I don't understand something. Just started noticing, why are all the recent Japanese car manufacturers have this massive black mesh crap in the front of their cars?

Sure, it is the same price as the M4 but the leasing price and finance rates are no where near as good as this discounted RCF. I myself cant afford to pay 1400-1500 for a M3/M4 but I could possible afford to pay 1.1k for this RCF. I dont like the RCF but I would consider leasing one if the payments come down to the same as my 535i. Just my 2 cents....

On an absolute value basis and considering 99.5% of our cars' use, any car beyond a base Chevy cobalt is 'screwing us'. My point was about demand (which reflects market perception of relative value) not absolute value.

I feel bad for Lexus honestly. I would like them to keep trying, but if they can't give their offerings away, seems they may stop trying and concentrate on what they have always been known for. Which is bad for all of us.

Oh I see. I was just in Canada a few months ago and it was $1.30 Canadian to US $1 exchange rate.

Im just not sure Lexus knows what they are doing in this segment anymore. The car was a complete miss while their competitors were able to see the market trending in a different direction. The RC-F is just as much of a flop as the LF-A was.

The LFA wasn't a flop. They sold every single one and even picked their customers, even had ridiculous parameters for ownership. It may not have been a Ferrari beater or the fastest, but that car was special, ymmv.

My neighbor bought RC-F a week ago. So far he really enjoys the car but already commented about the weight. He said it's noticeable. It's a great car anyway and I'm glad that people actually have a choice when shopping for such cars. Competition is a good thing for any brand.

There is no denying that its a special car for Lexus, but what else did it really offer? Some leading technology use but it is no where near same level as the other cars in its market performance wise. After 10 years of development they came out with a car that was not on par with other super cars in the segment. Seems super similar to what just happened to the RC-F. If I was in the market for a car at that price point back then, I sure as hell would not have looked at the LFA. Just for kicks I googled "lfa a flop". The articles basically reflect my thoughts on what Lexus tried to do with the LFA and the result they had doing so. Taking that in comparison to what they did with the RC-F and its results so far in the market...seems like the same type of thing happened. Just my opinion though. |
