Offsets - Will they Fit?
Hello
I'm an extremely new BMW owner and was looking at ordering a set of brand new work wheels - just need to confirm the offsets and sizes I'm after will fit with stock suspension as well as coilovers when i lower it. Im going to roll the guards but want to stay away from pumping/flaring. 2010 123d Coupe currently have BMW 313 wheels Option 1: fronts 18x8.5 +39 with 225/40r18 rears 18x9.5 +52 with 255/35r18 Option 2: fronts 18x8.5 +39 with 225/40r18 rears 18x9.5 +45 with 245/35r18 If anyone is running these sizes it would be amazing if you could share pictures Thank you in advance Last edited by Am91; 11-11-2015 at 02:08 AM.. |

Fronts should work with most non R tire brands. Could rub a little when the suspension compresses or if you go too low. For the rears, option 1 is best. Option 2 will work depending on tire brand, how much you lower, etc. If it does rub more than you want, you could add more camber. Option 3 would be difficult.

Option 1 will work the best. Little to no chance of rub on the back and plenty of clearance up front.

Mine is close.
18X8J ET40 with 225/40-18 Federal 595RSR ( 241mm wide, same as a 245/35 Michelin PSS) 18X9J ET45 with 245/35-18 Federal 595RSR (253mm wide, wider than my 255/35-18 MPSS.) Rear fenders had to be rolled. If you are running a ET52 wheel on the back, no fender mods will be needed.

yes, IM on coilovers. The exact amount Im lowered I don't know. I had the car corner balanced when the coilovers were installed. But it's alot lower than stock and zero rubbing.

If you're trying to stay conservative, option 1 would be ideal. The 39ET in the front is a little most aggressive than the 313s, but you shouldn't really have a problem.

I test fit 18x8.5 +42 front 18x9.5 +45 rear and it sat well with stock suspension. If I went +45 all round would this be ok with stock suspension and be compatible when I lower it ?

It will depend on your tire and rear alignment.
I am running a 255 RE71R which is a wide 255 on a 9" +45 rear wheel with -2 degrees camber, and it does not rub during street driving, but does rub during extreme autocross use. "tphaeng" reports no rubbing with 9.5" +40 offset with 255s which does not seem likely to me - his wheel sticks out 11.5mm more than mine. For my setup to rub under autocross and his to not, it would only be possible is if he is running a bunch more rear camber (like -2.5 minimum or has a super narrower 255). The photo above looks like the tire is a bit narrow as it appears to be stretched, but frankly it does not look like it would clear under even moderate cornering. To your question, a 9.5 +45 will only fit with a 255 if you have over -2 degrees of camber and a narrow tire. Otherwise you will require -2.5 or more camber to clear it under ALL circumstances. Mark
