Bay Area - Which dealer for 1200 mile service
Anyone get a 1200 mile service recently and had a good experience, i.e. used correct parts, fluids, and didn't damage the car?
I did a search and the looks like overall feedback on general service is mixed to poor. Thanks in advance. Last edited by xman11; 12-17-2015 at 06:42 AM.. |

I had my 1200-mile service done this past Monday at Peter Pan and the car came back in excellent shape. They added < 1 mile to the odometer and used quantity 65 of LL-01 and quantity 1 of "SAF-XJ 12." Not much of a DIYer so I can't verify the actual parts used. I also don't see a line item for enabling Launch Control. My SA, Kenny Lew, did mention that when I dropped off my car in the morning.

I had mine done at BMWSF. They did the service. Nothing more. Wouldn't let me speak to an SA and wouldn't update my iDrive so that ConnectedDrive would work again. Also told me they didn't have time to check a speaker popping issue. Going to have to make another appointment at another dealership
Sadly there isn't a competent dealership in the area. Both Peter Pan and Mountain View damaged my previous e92. BMWNA probably hates me by now |

Peter Pan BMW - ask for Kenny Lew... He's a car nut like we all are... Check out his 1M while you are there... Awesome to deal with and even more awesome as a human being...

I did mine at Fremont BMW and while they were checking the brakes, they knicked one of my wheels
I would avoid

Looks like Kenny Lew @ Peter Pan is #1, with Weatherford as runner up.
Thanks for all the great feedback, and sorry to hear about the bad experiences. I hope the dealer was at least apologetic and made an attempt to right their wrong. Last edited by xman11; 12-22-2015 at 03:38 AM.. |

disppointing to hear all the negative reviews. I'll be moving out to the area in a few months. my current dealership knows me and treats me well. was also wondering if there is a particularly mod/tune friendly dealership out there. good input guys!

However, none of the BMW dealerships in the Bay Area stands out as being better, unfortunately... They all get pretty bad Yelp reviews for service. There are brands that have at least one really good dealership in the area, but sadly BMW isn't one of them. BMWs are incredibly popular and common in the Bay Area, so the dealerships don't need to try hard to be successful, and this shows. Also, they are simply way overcrowded. I lease, so I don't care about this problem that much. I get the impression that this is the case for most around here. If I bought to keep for a long time, I would go with a brand that has better service departments in the area. Last edited by visualguy; 12-27-2015 at 08:21 PM.. |

Unfortunately most of the Bay Area BMW dealerships are owned by large national auto retailers such as Autonation, Sonic, and Penske.
Of course it is the employees that work for them that should be accountable for the service you receive as a client. Hence, it is important to always review/rate the service that you receive and contact BMWNA if you feel that you have been wronged. |

Used to live in the Bay Area, all I can say is avoid BMWSF (services done there ranged from not looking at all into specified issues to giving me the car back with dirty black marks on my ceiling) and that I've always been very happy with Peter Pan BMW.
