BC Racing Coilovers Type BR Installed
So my front right strut blew its gasket, and I figured it was time to just replace the whole suspension for a fresh set...
Took me about 6 hours to complete the job... I was previously on stock shocks with Eibach Pro Springs, which had about 50k miles on them... I really like the BC's because the ride height can be adjusted without affecting the spring rates- as they have two separate pieces working together... These things go really low too! I'm already low enough for my taste, but there is over 1 more inch of adjustment left if I need to go lower... Handling is substantially improved over my former component equipment... I deleted the EDC option in the process by coding it out to remove the fault... Car was a little bouncy until I got the dampening settings right... 20 in front/16 in rear... No rubbing either... Car handles 25% better now, and the chassis remains firm through corners with a great feel and no body roll, even at high speeds! Best $995 I ever spent... |

Looks great and BC is not to be slept on. I suggest get some swift springs and replace them with what came with the BC Kit ....with whatever desired rates you seek and you'll see a world of a difference!

Circuit Motorsports out of Orlando, Florida... I think they have a few sets left possibly... These guys down there are pretty cool and even helped me over the phone with some ride-height and preload settings...

I opted out for the swift springs because I don't track this car... The setup I have feels awesome for the street, and I am happy with the improvement- big difference!

I highly doubt a $995 set of coilovers set has better damping than oem shocks. No?
Go over some big bumps and see what happens.

I like my BC Racing coilovers too.
I went with the ER type (external reservoir) and swift springs with slightly stiffer fronts. BC revalved them for me per Redline360's spec found here I've had two three track days on them so far and they're great.

I ran BC's on my track car for a while, they ended up failing but for the price.. not bad.

How did they fail? The only thing that can really fail is the shock, and they can rebuild them, just like with any other manufacturer like Ohlins, KW, etc. They're all rebuildable for a reason - because they need to be rebuilt as it's a wearable item, especially on a track car.

Rear shocks started leaking and front damper adjustment somehow broke off... lol but probably around 15k miles of street use and 5 track events. Could have rebuilt them but wasn't happy with the dampening for track use. For the street they were good or if you want to slam your car since they do go low.

I've heard some complaints about early failures on BCS coilovers from the Viper forum guys. However, any shock can fail and even the expensive aftermarket equipment is not immune from this. My $3100 KW V2 coilovers suffered _two_ failures in the first 300 miles. Left rear starting squeaking loudly after 15 minutes from the new install and the right rear began to leak a few weeks later. KW sent me a replacement for the first one and repaired the second one, but I sold the whole set after that and moved on to MCS coilovers (which have been flawless). This was not on an M3, BTW.

No issues whatsoever so far... I have not noticed any problems going over bumps or dips- other than the fact that the whole chassis is much more stiff over the factory shocks... I definitely notice a lot more road and tire noise, but that is to be expected with any coilover system...
Even if I have to replace them in a few years, the price for the quality is well worth it... I plan on raising up the ride height 1cm tonight, as the chassis is a little lower than is really needed for my taste... |
