Another BMW M3 vs. C63 vs. ATS-V comparo.

Sorry didn't see the other postings for this same review (not enough coffee yet...))

This time by CNET

http://www.cnet.com/roadshow/news/ri...-c63-vs-ats-v/

Quick recap:

Results:

1st: Cadillac ATS-V (reviewers loved the way it drove but didn't like interior and they seemed to award it 1st based on its lower price)

2nd: Mercedes C63 (reviewers loved interior, exterior too conservative, reviewers said they would take this car home if price was no object)

3rd: BMW M3 (reviewers didn't like the steering feel and the piped in engine sound, too many drive mode settings, liked the exterior, interior was mehhh and price was too high)

It seems this time the Cadillac came out on top based on its superior driving feel and being the best bargain for the price.

Not sure how the ats v is a bargain... at that base 60k price... you dont get anything... you load them up pound for pound and pricing is similar.

The M3 comes w Navi and sport seats standard, thats thousands in options on the ats v. THE ATS V DOESNT GET XENONS STANDARD. lol

I have come to the conclusion that all three of these cars are so similar in comparison there really isn't a "bad" choice.

Pick the M3 if you want a track car
Pick the Benz if you want a cruiser/straighline brute
Pick the Cadillac if you......well I hate GM so the ATS-V can go pound sand for all I care.

CNET Comparo: M3 vs C63 vs ATS-V

Just saw this article pop-up today. Results are a bit surprising although everything I've been reading lately praise the Caddy's chasis and overall driving dynamics. That used to be what BMW's were renowned for.

One of those guys is from the XCAR. Guess he moved over to the states.

Good review, I think they made some fair points. Like buyers in the segment, everyone has their own opinion. Unlike the past it is no longer a slam dunk win for the M3.

In the end of the video when they went over interiors, although they didn't like the materials at all. Piano black finish is a fingerprint magnet, Que system is not up to par. They ended up giving the nod to the Caddy, because it offers more features like the front facing camera, perf data recorder, 4G lte wifi.

The market speaks for itself... in 3-4 years, we will be asked how did the M3 lose so many comparos but there is still far more of them on the street?

I guess there is still something there that everyone wants.

The perf data recorder is a joke... i've used it in a Z06... a 1990 handheld camera has better quality.

I worked for a high end Cadillac dealership for about six years. One of the things it doesn't tell you is that your resale on the ATS-V will allow you to buy a wheel barrow and a box of chiclets when you trade.

my ATS-V was almost 74k equipped, not a bargain in any aspect.

I remember building the same specs on the M3 and it was about 3k higher.

Actually it is very handy to have all the data recorded from the your track sessions. Using it with the Cosworth data analyzer really makes it a valuable tool. You are only referring to the 720p video, yes it isn't a 4k go pro. Having the hard data is the best part and having that built into the cars is quite nice.
