I've always liked the RS5 . But is it me, or is Audi always so late to the game with their cars?

The new RS5 won't be out for another 2 years or something, correct?

(That was a cool video)

RS5 was always on the top of my list before I ordered an M3. RS5 beats it's competitors hands down in looks, imo. Only thing that steered me away was it's slightly outdated interior and my partner already has a brand new A4 quattro, so needed something a bit different.

But I will always have a soft spot for them.

Interior in my rs5 is miles ahead of my f80 m3. The only issue is the weight and torque. But the NA V8 puts the f8x to shame.

That was pretty awesome. Always loved the RS5, need four doors though.

LOL what?! in what way that interior came out in 2008 and full leather isn't even an option, and performance is more comparable to 435 x-drive

If that NA V8 were in an RS5 that weighed 1000 lbs less, perhaps.

Look at it this way. You jump out of your 2015 M3/4 lease in 2018 and what's on the market? Same M3/4 you just got out of, C63 that has been out for years, ATS-V that has been out for years. All getting long in the tooth. RS 4/5 is brand new!

You're sure about the performance? Cause in three tracks that I know of, the RS5 was faster than the M4:

Motown Mile 0:56.83 vs 0:57.47
Contidrom 1:34.39 vs 1:34.41
Ring Knutstrop 1:12.10 vs 1:13.00

At the same time, I couldn't find any lap time where the 435 was faster than M4, can you please point at least one?

I owned both at the same time. Trust me I know luxury cars. The RS5 placement of interior, materials, sound system, bolsters, screen resolution, and navi are all better than the f8x m3.

The f8x m3 is boat loads of fun with low end torque.

The person above mentions the car needing to be 1k lbs lighter. That is not true at all. Both fully loaded cars are only 300-400lbs difference. Also, the RS5 is very usable all year long bc of the AWD and bc of the weight.

Also 99% of the people here aren't track monkeys who need that kind of performance. The RS5 is a better everyday GT car.

I don't care about another RS5 vs F80 conversation...

But I will say the red accents on the M4 in the video look TERRIBLE to me.

ONLY 300-400lbs?!

First of all, that's a nice chunk of weight. Second, not everyone gets a fully loaded M car, I for one opted for the bare bones stripper car(M Adaptive, AY/SO being the only options) carbon fiber roof, 18"s, 6MT. My car weighs close to 3450-3500lbs without driver. The RS5 weighs closer to 4050lbs. For ME the 500-600lbs is a MASSIVE difference.

Not going to lie, love that the RS5 has AWD! You are totally right about us not all being track junkies. However, no 6MT option and no turbo make it a no go for me.

With our elevation of ~4500ft and density altitude getting up to ~7000-8000ft in the summer months, a turbocharger(or even a supercharger) is a MUST up here. Where I live stock C6 Z06's and SRT Vipers run very high 12's and trap from 108-112.

If the RS5 would have been turbo, I MIGHT not be on this forum right now. Then again, I might have been like Brava and always point out how much better the RS5 is on the M forums ...... Just giving you shit Brava

I owned them both and loved them both. They are just very different cars honestly. They both have their pluses and minuses.

Things like 12' second quarter miles make no difference to me. How often am I drag racing someone? The rs5 is not a track car for sure but there are a lot of pluses to make it a usable everyday car.

M4 is not a track car as well...sure you can take it to the track, just as some take their RS5's to the track, but that doesn't make it a track car. M4 is still too heavy for a track car.

As a result very few take their M4 to the track, let's be honest here.

They are both performance cars, not luxury cars. My point of the 12 second 1/4 mile was PERFORMANCE based. I would assume most people by these performance cars for their performance, regardless if they race them or not.

No doubt the AWD is great for cold temps and wet/damp road conditions. Both cars are great, I am sure. It's just a shame Audi doesn't bring more exciting performance cars to the U.S. Hell, they don't even offer new RS5's anymore.

I really liked the TTRS I test drove, with a 5cylinder Turbo, 6MT, and AWD. It would have been perfect if it wasn't so tiny. It seems no ONE brand offers the whole package, each has something great to offer but you can't have it all.

Next M generation with awd should solve all our issues. The design imo of BMW can step it up but after I saw the i8 I know they are capable of it.

I love my F80. The wife has a 2015 S4. I'm becoming an Audi believer. It's just a solid, solid car. No interior noises whatsoever. It's quick, but the F80 is fast. AWD in NY is pretty damn useful.

Do you have links so we can go read about these lap times. After watching this video I find it very difficult to believe the M4 lost three times.

(To be honest, I have no idea why people have to always resort d-@k measuring and magazine racing. The video in the op was just a fun look at both cars, now everyone's talking about interiors and which is blahblahblah....who gives a crap. Buy the one you like, no need to defend your choice, it's your money).
