M4 GTS: More Aggressive Anti-Lag?
https://www.flickr.com/photos/56332324@N00/24241877624/
Listening to the GTS video posted on the home page and M2 forum, I could not help noticing the firecrackers in the exhaust sound after it was switched to Sport (or Sport+) at ~0:10 the video. I have never heard a standard M4 have that much crackle. I wonder if the GTS has been tuned with a much more aggressive anti-lag system. Thoughts?

I would think that the fact it has more power would play into this?

That's not just exhaust, that thing spit fire around the 30 second mark. It's a factor of tuning more than exhaust. not one aftermarket exhaust has produced any pops and burbles like that on a static car.

I think that was a glare you're talking about (flame). But the burble is definitely tune related.

Listen to the video in the second link in the OP, and you hear the same effect from the front of the car. At this point I definitely think that sounds like a quite aggressive anti lag system. I remember reading a test drive of the M4 safety car a while ago. Did that mention throttle response? I do think so. Will try to find the article tomorrow. If anyone want to search online I think it was originally written by Georg Kacher |

Found the interview I was thinking about:
http://www.carmagazine.co.uk/car-rev...r-2015-review/ He do mention the instant response as one of the more intense feelings the GTS has over the regular M4 |

Seems like there is more aggressive anti-lag to me. Or whatever it is, it's not 'standard'. I'm not surprised; I'd say it's expected. Part of the tuning, err, 'modification' package on the whole.
I loved this part of the above referenced article: "The extra 75bhp should be a real game-changer, but surprisingly it is not so much the extra urge that makes this M4 special, it’s the much more emotional driving experience. That’s emotional as in loud noise, pungent smells, instant response, deceptive grip, heartbeat feel." The word "emotional" is usually such BS fluff or marketing, it's nice to see someone actually describe what they mean. So to make our lowly plane jane vanilla M4's more "emotional", we need to make them more noisy, smelly, deceptively grippy, responsive (throttle)? |

Just read an article about the facelifted Porsche 911 Turbo S.
One of the changes was to increase throttle response and is called "dynamic boost". Under dynamic boost the throttle valve stays open for up to two seconds after the driver lifts off the throttle pedal. This is exactly like the "cold blowing" that we discussed in this thread: http://f80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho....php?t=1211456 |

However, for the GTS, it seems pretty obvious to me hearing the popcorn sounds that fuel is used in the anti-lag
